Shawn Christy, Wanted for Threatening the President, Caught

MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP, Oh. -- Shawn Christy from McAdoo, the man who has been on the run for three months after allegedly threatening President Trump and other officials, was arrested today in Ohio.

Local and federal authorities were most recently searching for Shawn Christy in central Ohio after Christy crashed a stolen vehicle off Interstate 71 in Mansfield, Ohio on Sunday.

Christy had been eluding authorities since June.

Shawn Christy fled Schuylkill County to Canada, drove to New York, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky and finally Ohio.

He made several stops in his hometown of McAdoo where he continued to steal vehicles to continue evading capture.

Christy allegedly broke into businesses, stealing food, and supplies.

He was believed to be armed and dangerous after stealing several guns from family members in Luzerne County.

He was originally wanted for making online threats to president trump and other elected officials. Christy will likely be facing a long list of charges.

Christy was captured by U.S. Marshals and special task forces from Ohio and Pennsylvania in Mifflin Township near Mansfield, Ohio just before 5 p.m. on Friday.

U.S. Marshals tell Newswatch 16 Christy was found with a knife and a firearm in a densely wooded area.

Christy is expected to be extradited back to Pennsylvania to face a plethora of charges.

Personally I'm relieved he's finally been caught, mostly because it has been quite scaring to people both in McAdoo and around the area of NEPA. (Including in my area as well) But at least the past few months of fear from a potentially (If not very) dangerous person has been caught and can be brought to justice.

But what about you NSG, what do you think about this, about him being arrested, threatening the president and other officials, as well as robbing and stealing cars, food and supplies?

Since he was spotted in my state, I actually was on the lookout for him. Not actively searching of course, because that should be left to law enforcement, and I never would have confronted him. But if I happened to just see him I would have called the police.

The US Secret Service would've visited him but nothing would come of it if they couldn't determine him to be a credible threat. According to an article I read he's wanted for a bunch of other stuff, including burglary, failure to appear for an aggravated assault case, and violation probation. Also, he threatened the local DA as well as Trump.

Well, I've lived in Schuylkill County, so I can understand why he'd want to escape.

But in all seriousness, when I first heard about this story I wasn't surprised that Mr. Christy was a denizen of NEPA; unfortunately for me, it seems as if this area is where God jails the lost and the damned among humankind.
