I don't know about French law. In some countries, impersonating an official makes an offence more serious IIRC.

But, I'm not sure if impersonating a low ranking government minister would be serious in the same manner as impersonating a police officer or similar (let's face it, people are more likely to trust and confide in police officers than ministers).

Even if someone doesn't pretend to be a minister, the crime is still fraud. The claim made them more believable. But it doesn't make a material difference to their offence, in this case, IMO.

The rule of law is much more fluid amongst the Gauls. Their law books have always been more a series of suggestions.

Yes if I can get the money back. Then use said money to invest in better training for the Bavarian police. They might be able to hit Hitler when he tries his putsch. People talk all the time about elaborate plans to kill Hitler when it is simply easier to have people already shooting at Hitler hit him.

And of course use whatever is left over for sports betting and the stockmarket.

Admittedly she stopped Hitler committing suicide, which was short-sighted, but (AFAIK) it's not like she dated him.

Maybe put it away until you've bought her a meal or some flowers first...

EDIT: You could always invite her to meet you under the Eiffel Tower that you bought. Not only would coming to France keep her far from the Putsch, but think how impressed she'd be that you own a monument.

I'm inclined to agree.

More than likely I would use the affluent status (and presumably vast connections) inherited from my position to hunt down this fiend and make him cough up my money. A private investigator should be able to tell me where he's hiding, what name he's living under, who his associates are, etc. From there all I need to do is place the matter squarely in the hands of my trusty debt collector.

If he's left the continent, however, I can do nothing. I don't have sufficient connections or capital to hunt him down if he disappears into America or some far-flung colony.
