nah...I don't see the Aussies scoring...and I certainly don't see three goals in the German team...I think you could be right that Klose will score though...

I see Deutschland at 2-0 and then they start to pussyfoot around and the aussies sneak one in..... then the Germans wake up again and snag one more at the end.

hmmmm I see your reasoning...but when its the WC Deutschland are the most organised and disciplined teams in the competition...whereas Aussie crapitude could lead to a false sense of security...if it was the second or third game I would say it was plausible. However given that its obvious now that the first win is vital I don't see Deutschland doing that...

The only reason I'm saying this is because they're without Frings and Ballack... and still I miss Kahn.... He was old but.... Much better than Lehmann ever was! Germany has a very young team, strong, but young.....

This match should be a good one. I have Germany winning 2-0.

I think Neuer will do just fine in goal, and Ballack's injury is more importantly a loss for team chemistry and leadership - I don't think the actual on-pitch performance will be hurt too much.

Lahm, Jansen, and Mertesacker are very capable in back, Schweinsteiger has proven to be extremely talented (when he can control his temper) and Trochowski looked very good in qualifiers, and Podolski and Klose are both quite able.

Given that I have a ticket to see Domingo performing Simon Boccanegra at the Royal Albert Hall soon? No. My wife kept going "I know this Boccanegra", and then remembered why the surname of an otherwise obscure US footballer seemed familiar.

And there's only one 'c' in Carlos' surname ;)

OK, I know it's the World Cup and all, but I just have one piece of non-related news I'd like to share:

Scolari is back to Palmeiras!

Oh boy, I'm so excited! This is the best news any Palmeiras supporter such as myself could hear :D

Jesus Christ I hope not. 1-0 at worst. I want Ghana to stay on top so they can meet the US in R16 and reprise their work in 2006. Then if South Africa, Cameroon, and/or Ivory get in another Quarterfinal spot, we have ourselves a world cup.

I bet on Podolski scoring goals for Germany, should I have chosen Klose?

Klose is the superior Striker... He had the most goals last world cup.

I mainly chose Podolski as Germany seems to rely on him more as of late, how do Gomez or Muller compare?
