I think he had done enough wrong and the climate had changed enough in his party to make his position untenable. He was unlikely to get the support of many dem voters after that. People like Trump are different because they appeal to voters who either don't care about #Me Too or actively oppose it. They can reject all accusations, call their accusers liars that should be sued and even if evidence comes up, insist that it's all fake. Because democratic voters won't accept effectively targeting sexual assault accusers, their politicians are more likely to lose their seat due to allegations.

Not really. The Franken Case was quite different, there was corroborated testimony, and actual evidence of the events to back up the claims.

There’s nothing like that with the Kavenaugh Case.

The Franken Case occurred more or less organically as part of the #metoo movement.

With Kavanaugh the whole thing reeks of partisan posturing rather than credibility. This is reading more and more like smear and hit piece rather than a legitimate accusation.

The entirety of interaction by the GOP with the Dems has been by smear tactics, mudslinging and various search and destroy missions of candidates for years. That's what reeks. Check your own garbage can.

That being said, I think Ms. Ford seems totally legit at this point. She's probably not on an unjustified revenge mission.

I meant McConnell was true to his form. Mitch is a long standing hypocrite. But more to the threads topic, there's plenty more to hear about Kavanaugh's past sexual exploits. Should be real conservative, right? Sex just to make babies and no other stuff.

But one illogical interpretation of one article by a questionable source says that all but two were lying, which is clearly more factual than actual facts. /s

Unfortunately Jerzyland’s position sets dangerous precedent that, that inorder to prevent a confirmation they don’t want, all a side has to do is accuse the nominee of a crime. Even if there’s no way to corroborate the accusation, by Jerzy’s standards they should be blocked. This is not a good precedent for our democracy

That's a shameless oversimplification and you know it. The only dangerous precedent here is filling our government's highest offices with individuals that haven't the necessary character. Mr. Kavanaugh needs to face his past.

I don't know if that's something that needs citation. "Facts don't matter to Trump" is like "Trump is American" or "water is wet". It's generally accepted as being obvious.

So stop looking-up facts because Trump doesn’t care about them? I’m not sure if I understood. If that’s the case, that’s a rather denegrating way for a discussion to go.

It should be investigated. If something comes of it, deal with him. If nothing, then nothing. Both Kavanaugh and Ellison (that’s the name I think) should be investigated fully.

(If I got a name wrong or missed an event that happened with Ellison, I am running on two hours of sleep. Sorry.)

I don't want to derail this thread so this is the last I'll post on it, but Trump's habit of lying is well known. From his inauguration crowd size, no less, to current day.

Nope.
The point is ...how do you Trump people square that, the president not adhering to facts? Isn't he a role model for our children who will be the leaders, teachers, businessmen and parents of the future generation? If not, when did we decide he could virtually be Joe Isuzu and it's okay. When?
