Dad couldn't name them anything obscene in front of us kids or Mom, even though he cursed whenever he was angry. Different rules then, weird. My friends and I just called them the Green Bay Peckers.
Dad also called the Colts "The Indian-no-place Horse Thieves" after they left Baltimore. smh.

A guy I worked with for awhile called the Vikings "the Six Kings" (VI Kings). We also referred to the Chicago Bears as the Charmin' Bears since they were such ass wipes. I, myself, once dubbed the Jacksonville Jaguars as the Quacksonville Quagmires which stuck for a few years. Also heard of a team known as the Deadskins and the San Francisco 69ers. smh again.

There was a playoff game between the Baltimore Colts and Green Bay Packers in 1965 which we lost 13-10 in sudden death overtime.

The game went to OT bc of a FG that clearly was no good to everyone. The kicker, Don Chandler, knew he missed it immediately reacted with clear body language of failure, but then the blind ref called the damn thing good, tying the game 10-10 with less than 2 minutes. These were the days the days of the old shorter goalposts, anchored to the ground by two poles. The players immediately started pointing and so did Colts head coach Don Shula. This game was like on Christmas (edit: it was the day after xmas) bc I recall watching it at my aunt's house with the men in of the family there. No one could believe this shit. The Pack went on to win in OT on another FG which was barely good. Years later, Chandler admitted the kick was no good.

Next day the Balt. Sun has an AP photo from under the goalposts showing the ball clearly outside the goal posts. Oddly the Colts had to use a RB, Tom Matte, as QB in the game as Johnny Unitas was hurt and his very good backup, Gary Cuazzo, got injured in the last couple games of the season. The Pack were down to their backup QB Zeke Bratkowski. The Colts were the better team that day but the Packers went on to the NFL Championship game and then SB 1 which was merely an afterthought. That western conference championship game made us all hate the Packers and the NFL refs. There was no valid excuse for the call.

As my Dad said something like this afterwards, "son, the Colts aren't one of the original teams in the NFL. They get the short end of the officiating stick sometimes against these original NFL teams, especially on their home fields."

It was the day I actually learned life wasn't going to be exactly fair. :o

The 14 team league added 2 teams (Falcons, Saints) by the 1967 season and realigned from two conferences with no divisions into two conferences with 2 divisions of four teams.
The realignment proved my Dad was right about the short stick bit. One of the divisions was ridiculous, the one the Colts were placed, which was called the Coastal Division. Now get this, they put the two teams on the west coast (Rams & 49ers) with two team from the east coast (Colts and Falcons). It was a travel nightmare for those 4 teams and all four of these teams were definitely not original NFL teams. All of them got the short end of the stick from the league.

Technically, the Packers aren't an original NFL team, as they joined the then-APFA in 1921, while the league was founded in 1920 (only the Bears and Cardinals are left from the league's first season). But, yeah, Green Bay has always been one of the NFL's sacred cows.

Mom, how many times do I have to tell you? Marcus Mariota will lead us to the promised land, All hail King Henry.

In all seriousness tho, I’m saying Bills score a FG with under 1:40 to go and then Mariota has a 2nd straight game winner.
