Furthermore, Joe Flacco and even Trent Dilfer should never EVER be in the same sentence with Rex Grossman. Rex was a loser. He finished his SB with 165 yards a touchdown, two ints and two fumbles. That's a 68.3 quarterback rating. Flacco did far better than that. As a Raven fan, I know you (a Steeler fan) would want to make these kind of bogus comparisons. But it does let me know what teams player's own space inside your head.

I tried to differentiate between the likes of Dilfer/Grossman and Flacco. All I said was that he wasn't a superstar (he wasn't, isn't, and never will be). Don't get me wrong, Joe was solid enough for you. Which just sort of proves the point I was making about Tannehill. At the end of the day, take it as a complement that your team was good enough to win the big game, once with an average QB, and once with a subpar one.

Sure. But let me tell you, Joe was an above average QB at the time. His offensive output got them to and won that Super Bowl 47. The defense had some issues that game. SB 35 was a defensive masterpiece, but i'd argue Dilfer was at least an average QB then when looking at him in totality. He'd gotten to the NFC championship the previous year with TB. Trent was big with the intangibles. He had the mindset of a winner. Put his head onto Flacco's body and then w'de have a great QB, lol.

In other news... Bunch of Cowboys and Texan positive for Covid-19 including Zeke. This is not a good sign.

Some of my friends insist it might benefit the Pats if the season is cancelled. Well... let's wait and see.

And I agree about Joe Flacco, he was certainly above average before his major injury. Maybe he ended up being overpaid but that's another matter altogether.

That's the best we can expect. Just wonder how many more players are going to get it and who the unlucky ones will be that get seriously ill. Same goes for coaching staffs, fans, reporters and even the... dare i say it... the refs.

Brady dropped off a ton the last two seasons and yet Pats were still among the most dangerous in the league. It's like how 14-15 Manning dropped off a ton but Broncos still performed well. Ofc Denver's main reason behind a drop-off was their awful OL but that's for another time.

My advice for the Pats fans would be to not worry so much.

One point of concern is that Dante Scarnecchia is gone (retirement). He retired before and our offensive line declined accordingly. There was an immediate resurgence when he returned in 2016.
Still, I don't think we'll fall off a cliff, we still have BB.

Defence is not the concern I have for Patriots.

The Patriots always had minimum good OLs on the years they won the SB. Their system works the best that way too- without it, its effectiveness is reduced drastically. See Kubiak and why his 2016 offence failed- it's one of those more traditionally-styled offences that unfortunately had awful OLs and didn't work at all.

Pat did get hurt, too be fair. He was playing injured for a good chunk of the season (what, 4-6 games?, Chiefs fans will know), and missed a couple. He’s just so damn good that it doesn’t matter.

His doing a mediocre job at best with the Cowboys as a head coach probably turned off a lot of squads. Besides that I don’t think many HC positions, if any, were open by the time he was fired. It isn’t too uncommon. Steve Wilks is a defensive coordinator now, as is Wade Philips. Both have been head coaches in the past. Gary Kubiak was a rather successful head coach for the Broncos and is now Minnesota’s offensive coordinator, I believe. I’m sure there are other examples I could point to if I really thought about it, but those guys are just off the top of my head.
