But in Cutler's defense, he did play through diabetes(or something, but I think that's right), in his rookie year that completely sapped him of his physical strength.
As for Bortles, I think the winning casts a rose-tinted view on him. I'd be happy if the Jags stuck with him for another 10 years, because I think he sucks, and I watched him, in person, throw the Titans into the playoffs last season. But once the team's winning, people like the quarterback, which is odd, but whatever.
Because as we said before, it's not all about stats. I'd rather have Bortles and win than, say, Philip Rivers and lose. Ultimately, if you're doing enough to win, you're doing enough. You don't have to be MVP-caliber to get the job done.
Back when Cutler was at Denver, there was this one memorable game up there versus the Chargers. Somewhere in the early second half Cutler and Rivers started barking at each other. Rivers was leaving the field as the punt team came on. Cutlers started yelling some trash talk from the Bronco sideline. Rivers stopped and began shouting back. This exchangewent on long enough for the cameramen to zoom in on them and the commentators noted the incident. It went on a while longer, even after Rivers was over standing on the sideline, yellings. He was seriously pissed at whatever JC was saying. Later in the game they were still yelling at each other at times, it was mad. I'd never seen anything like it, for it's length. Rivers won the game and had the last laugh. For Cutler, it was a sign that this guy doesn't know when to shut up, even in his own locker room. IMO, Jerk Cutler is the worst QB primadonna since the merger. Easily worse than Dan Marino.
