Harrison claims that HC Mike Tomlin handed him an envelope after he was fined $75k for a hit on Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi in 2010 (Source).

Predictably, Art Rooney II denied the allegation and said there was no basis for believing the claim.

Less predictably and perhaps more interestingly, Harrison's longtime agent Bill Parise says it "never happened" and "I would have known that."

Harrison's beef with the Steelers and Tomlin is well known, but Tomlin has also been shady at points in his career and I wouldn't put a stunt like this past him. I think it's Parise that tips the scales for me and leads me to believe Harrison is making things up. Regardless, it's an embarrassing development for a franchise that's already been drowning in drama for the past couple of years.

You’d think losing 3 games in a row at the end of the season, and losing what should have been indisputable playoff status, would have been a wake-up call for them to stop the nonsense.

Word around the leagues is that all the offensive guys on their board got taken before their picks. Also, it isn't like Carolina's offseason wasn't shored up at all, they got Robby Anderson

Not the offensive guys the Ravens picked. They were steals.

Tomlin's the kind of guy that turns his back on the play as he stares at the play on the stadium's big screen. Mike then gets in the way of an opponent's kick returner heading for a sure TD during a prime time night game. Never seen another coach pull a stunt like that in 55 years of watching football. :eyebrow: So I wouldn't be at all surprised if Harrison's story is true.

So, I know this would most likely go into the College Football Thread, but on the ESPN App there is a video (roughly 20 minutes long) where Coach Saban breaks down Joe Burrow's performance in the CFB Championship Game. At the end of the video he says that Joe will have a hell of a career in the NFL.

For a coach who is normally an asshole, it was great for him to give Joe Burrow that much respect.

That's fine for here, Joe Burrow is an NFL Quarterback. Could you share a link if you have it, actually?

Saban's word definitely carries weight. Joe Burrow thrashing Clemson, Oklahoma, and the rest of the SEC is what sold me on him. Dude looked like he was playing on rookie difficulty in madden during the playoff+championship.

The overpaid one forgot the flaw in this plan. Burrow is in Cincy. Cincy's owner is Mike Brown.

I wouldn’t say bullshit, because there’s definitely an argument to be made. Him and Julio, maybe you could work Michael Thomas into the conversation too, but I don’t think he [thomas] is quite there yet. If AB was still playing he’d be in that. Hopkins is a beast. In 2018 the dude set the record for catches without a drop (115), and only 105 of those catches were considered catchable. Yet he had 0 drops. He’s stupid good. I think I’d still take Julio, but not by much and Hopkins blows him away with scoring production.

Charger fans, by and large, are among the least devoted fans in the NFL, largely because the Chargers organization seems to constantly betray and screw over their fans.

Agreed. Like any company, it’s hard to have love for your job and your employers when they constantly make you play with some of the most miserable conditions in the organization. No fans, they’ve been moved out of their city, they share a stadium with two other teams, even their uniforms are uninspiring and bland. And unlike the Rams and Raiders, they’re not currently being promised a shiny new stadium. And now they just lost Philip Rivers. They’re gonna be this way for a while, probably until their ownership and upper management remembers they exist again.

Apparently DeAndre Hopkins thinks that he's the best Wideout in the NFL. Is it me, or does that sound like a load of bullshit?

"You have cowards, you have mega-cowards and then you have Roger Goodell"

Long story short, there was a charity auction where the winning bid would get you to watch MNF with Roger Goodell at his house. It was 'won' (highest bid) by Barstool Sport's Dave Portnoy but the NFL have decided to block him from 'winning'.

Portnoy and Barstool Sports certainly don't enjoy a universally beloved reputation and have done some 'edgy' stuff, but nevertheless are widely liked by Pats fans for their long standing feud with Goodell and, admittedly, for Portnoy having created the (in)famous Goodell clown nose image on merchandising (even handing towels and shirts out for free at Pats games).

Inverted Flag Law: US Code Title 4 Section 8 Paragraph (a): The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
The United States of America has been in a state of dire distress since November 8, 2016. Flying the flag upside down is not only our right, it is our duty!
Make Maine Massachusetts again!
