Once it was the national pastime. Now it's past its time. Why? They got über -greedy. Ads between pitches? Well, fuck that. NFL, heed this warning.

It's not the ads and I'm not sure its the league. Every once in a while we get a player like Ichiro which should light up interest like no tomorrow but it never works. Even with player greed there's still plenty of guys sprinting the bases or shredding their legs making a slide or dive. I honestly don't know why its failing. I still enjoy striking out the kids at the park with my lethal fastball (I used to play but being a walk on didn't work out since I never played in college) and I look at old games not just highlights and enjoy them.

What a tragedy...

I think the point here is that you can't claim everything from pre-1863 America is a symbol of slavery. Unless you're Colin Kaepernick. He can, he just looks like an idiot doing it.

That's when DE succeeded from PA and declared herself independent. Not many people outside the Mid-Atlantic are aware of this small detail in our colonial history.

Here's another tidbit of strangeness for the 4th. Rhode Island was the first colony to declare independence from Britain, but were the last of the original 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution. Hmm? Second thoughts?
Rhode Island weirdly also has the longest official name of any state. Its official name is the "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" which is a revolutionary example of compensation for being tiny. As for slavery, the good news is they were the first to have passed an abolition law (1652), bad news is it wasn't enforced until new legislation in the late 1780s.

Our history is complicated. Much more so than an NFL offense.
