My Modest Proposal was that you should have a life, community and interests primarily outside of politics. Have drinks with your mates on the weekends, play/watch sport, make art and music, read good books and go to the gym. Crazy I know.

I chose mid-left libertarian because my economic position is that there should be universal basic income and a free market, where businesses collectively owned by workers compete with one another. Within the context of left-wing thought I suppose that could be considered mid-left, though most people would probably call me far-left.

Social libertarian wise I'm as far toward the bottom of the political compass as one can get, as I am for the right to do absolutely anything that doesn't harm someone else, and I do not recognize the state as having moral legitimacy at all.

I'm a teetotaller, not a big fan of sports, can't play music to save my life, reading books isn't social, gym costs too much.

I'm reading "I don't have the willpower not to be a politics nerd". Fair enough. Not all of us can be Chads.

Assuming being a Chad is a good enough.

Well yea but running doesn't cost you anything nor does using a public pool nor does body-weight training. There are several options and all of them are good in the building of one or the maintenance of one's physique.

The equipment at gyms is useful depending on what you want to do, but yes the main problem is will.

they definitely help. for example if you want Schwarzenegger's physique then yea a gym is mandatory but like you said it's all about your will. Doesn't matter if you workout if your dieting is abysmal.

Running, using a public pool, exercising, etc are not gyms. I do some running, swimming and exercising because I can do so for free, I'm not paying an over-priced subscription to use some gimmicky machines.

the meaning of gym has changed and it's not about a place but a state of mind where one's experiences physical hard work in order to produce a change no matter the reasoning.

A gym is a place in this context though. You mean working out.

The act of working out itself is the gym.

Go to? The gym was inside us all along!

Hmm. Perhaps not inside you if that's something you didn't work out yourself.

I chose Far-left authoritarian, because I do want a very powerful state, however I also hate authoritarianism, the state should only be so strong so as to help its citizens, not to limit or restrict them.

i met all my mates due to politics, sports are often political (colin kaepernick), my art all has political subtext, i only read books by politicians or parodying them, and there's this dude at the gym who's always talking up trump so i frequently debate him. :^)
