The proletariat will be blinded so long as they can be divided along religious, ethnic, national, race lines etc that allows the capitalists to pick and choose which groups can have a semblance of power and higher status. Also, Marx is not the only socialist to look up to, especially given some of his more...problematic views and overall Eurocentric ideas.
