They really don't tbh. Good luck using fucking Cauchy-Schwarzz or Maxwell-Ampère to "game the shit out of Wall Street".

Well, lets look at the facts. Physics majors gamed the shit out of Las Vegas. Stocks are essentially gambling as well. The basic logic holds up.

I mean, the Maldives for instance enjoys a very strong luxury tourism sector but everywhere outside of the capital is still pretty poor.

One third of their pop is in the capital, so it's not really bad for an otherwise resource-poor island

mostly because they mash up econ to create econophysics which is nothing besides massive numbercrunching price analysis models (that are either extremely vague, time-consuming or prone to fail), c.f. monte carlo method

Maths majors rather but their success was irrelevant to their diploma as they would have done the same had they went to econs instead because when you reach the level where you're able to count cards in your head, you'd do a slaughter even if you had taken a mechanic apprenticeship.

The point remain that probabilities make up for very little of what is taught in math in STEM and none at all in the other scientific subjects so, while I do appreciate to shit on the econs as much as the next guy, in that particular case it's actually wrong.

This does not negate the validity of economics as a science whatsoever.

Man, we can sure tell the difference after all those physics majors moved onto Wall Street. Everything went topsy-turvy and the world's financial system was never the same.
Or we're just spouting delusions.

I was just trying to dab on econ majors (it is the duty of the arts and the sciences to come together against business majors) by stating the fact that people with educations only tangentially related to their field can outclass them in games they designed.

Well, disregarding the fact that Quantum Mechanics is quite literally based on probability waves and that chaos theory exists in pure mathematics, you'd be correct

Did anyone catch that shitshow at Davos where a bunch of billionaires were asked a question by a room full of moron journalists about a 70% marginal tax rate and were like "Name a country where that's worked, ever" and they and the journalists laugh, then the only smart guy in the room says;

"...The united states?"

And dipshit journalist says "Briefly, in the 80s" and gets corrected immediately that it was from about the 30s up to the 80s?

Our governing class has no idea what they are doing. They are ignorant, insular, and think they know best because they are born into wealth and ascribe their success to how brilliant they are. In reality it keeps them stupid, and lowers their empathy to levels below norms for humans.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

I did see that, actually. He then proceeded to inform the billionaires in the room that the people were mad at them because they weren't actually paying fair taxes.

I find it kind of funny, actually, just imagining a bunch of rich folk in a circle wondering why the peasants hate them so.

I don't actually believe they don't know fully well what they are doing. They have merely cottoned on to the fact that so long as they play stupid, repeat the same stupid memes, control the conversation through monopolizing institutions and never actually acknowledge the counter arguments, they can stonewall and keep everything in place as it is.

That’s a good point. Just because they want us to remain Ignorant doesn’t mean they should be ignorant themselves. As a matter of fact, it’s easier to manipulate people if you know the truth and hide it from them.

It's not even a matter of having to hide it. You just don't acknowledge it.
If I beat the shit into you every single day but refuse to acknowledge that fact and just act smug and gaslight you when you bring it up, but at the same time demand that every dispute be settled by words, you my friend are shit out of luck until you get violent with me.

How can you talk me in to not doing that if I refuse?

You can't.
