No. People with nothing to say just persistently restate their appreciation for Rosa Luxemburg's Canal Polluting Services and Roy Bhaskar's Cosmic Stationers in an effort to dodge questions. Questions such as whether it might be a peculiar position for a """libertarian communist""" to refuse out of "respect" to condemn a country for chopping off hands for minor theft and for killing people for apostasy or homosexual acts.

No, He was not a pedophile. He was practicing general marriage customs in the 7ᵗʰ-century Arab world. By the way, similar marriage norms were followed by the U.S. settlers.

I mean... the definitions of things don't change based on what are the customs of the time. Murdering Welshmen was acceptable in the English borders in the 12th century, but that doesn't mean those people who did murder Welshmen aren't murderers. I don't think it invalidates Islam as a religion to have a problem with the founder of that religion having sex with a nine year old, even if we can't know if he was really a pedophile.

There used to be death for apostasy in the Western world, too. The Islamic world is going through a transition or a struggle between traditionalists, on the one hand, and modernists, on the other. It is similar to the struggle that the West experienced during the Age of Reason and the Enlightenment.

In other words, before we judge the Islamic world too harshly, perhaps Westerners should look at our own history.

Being a few centuries behind the West isn't a selling point.

It takes some hard anime plot logic to kill some teenagers, plant them in Beria's garden and basement, wait some 50 odd years for them to finally be found, and then reveal to the world what Soviet archives had already confirmed: that Beria was a sick son of a bitch. People, including Stalin, were terrified at the prospect of Beria showing an interest in their female relatives, for good reason.

Again, I never denied that Beria did do terrible things. What I denied was that;

1) Stalin fully knew about it.

2) Beria murdered a very large number of people.

I did not deny that Beria raped or killed people.

I understand that my earlier post could have been misinterpreted, though.

Stalin most likely didn't know about Beria until it was too late, considering Stalin was harsh to rapists in the Red Army during the 30s and 40s. It's just the historical fact - it's tragic, and it's the chance you take with bureaucracy in a superpower. Bad people will sometimes end up in powerful positions.

Stalin was going to get rid of Beria for what he did before Beria killed him.

The SA wasn't a right wing militia and pretending only the right wing can be racists is a kind of exceptionalism.

Go ask fascists who they hate more, capitalists or communists. The result might surprise you. That's the modern ones. Back then it's even more pronounced.

The SA was left wing enough that beefsteaks were a thing, socialists/communists in it who joined because fuck it, it's close enough.

The fact is, the SA being left wing is precisely why it was purged during Long Knives, because it scared the piss out of oligarchs and the army with its pestering Hitler to complete "The Second revolution" and abolish capitalism and purge the Conservatives from Germany.

Hitler instead sided with the Oligarchs, Army, and Conservatives against the SA.

The SA was a racist but fundamentally left wing organization in terms of its outlook and politics.
