He was actually trying to bring the GOP back to the 80s. Which was a good thing.

Well, back in the 80s ... I agree it's not a place we want to go but on the other hand, US politics wasn't as spittle-flecked as it is now and the government actually governed and the parties could talk without worrying about primary challenges.

So just because someone has admittedly bad stances on LGBT rights, it negates whatever else they did?

When you want to talk about someone being "good for the left"?

And given the number of people on this forum who will write off any political figure who isn't 100% behind total gun deregulation...

I'm fairly sure the latter interpretation has only existed as long as Vice President Pence has.

If I remember correctly, the GOA gave McCain a C when it came to supporting gun rights.

Also McCain`s nickname in Vietnam was "songbird McCain" because when he ended in captivity he was giving classified information to Vietkong and was snitching his fellow POWs in return for better treatment (the Vietkong found out he is a son of an American admiral). This was a good stuff since the US was the bad guy in Vietnam and he was helping the Vietnamese. John McCain’s 1969 “Tokyo Rose” Propaganda Recording

Conservatives people are not very bright since they consider him a war hero. No wonder the media are mocking them LOL

Just ignore his stances on LGBT rights and stuff.

Actually he was supporting transgender people in the US army. He helped as much he could. I will forgive him Iraq since he has done a lot of good thing to the progressive cause.

And when he was actively fighting to exclude LGBT people from hate crime laws and anti-discrimination protections?

Can't have it both ways folks. I mean i'll understand if this was directed at other posters but all Vassenor is saying rn is that he ain't perfect on this. No point in defending shit that even the man himself copped to at least in the abstract.

I may have had twice that, but for god's sake man, is civility gone in this country? Or is anyone you have some disagreements with a piece of crap you can say "fuck you to?"

Because, if it's the latter, man, it just shows how polarized and fucked up our national politics have become.
