Same scenario... Trump chokes on a chicken bone one night or something? Intoducing President Pence! No better especially when considering it follows years of Trump's madness. Palin succeeding McCain is still frightening as hell though.

Interesting footnote, Ted Kennedy died of the same exact brain cancer on August 25, 2009 (exactly 9 years before McCain died). Interestingly, in the following midterm election his party got clobbered and lost it's majority in the House.
Mark Twain once said history doesn't exactly repeat but it rhymes. Brain cancer deaths of the lions of the senate may now be presenting itself as an integral part of another example of Twain's historical rhymes.

The world wouldn't be any different. McCain and Obama were both political moderates with a penchant for warmongering, the only difference being Obama wasn't racist while doing it.

Would you shoot McCain knowing Palin would become President ?

VPs can serve as both a backup and discouragement for the opposition trying eliminate a Pres.

Yeah it was a bad move, but not necessarily a politically inadept one.

Presidents do not fire VPs. That said VPs really do not have a job other than to break ties in the Senate unless the President gives them one.

I know it is I came up with it during Bush II's campaign. Why do you think Cheney was picked ? Cheney would have nuked San Francisco if someone shot Bush.

Despite being a Republican he was a good person for the left. He was actively tring to modernise the GOP Party and make it more progressive. Since the GOP is full of white indentitarians McCain was figting thoose radicals. Also, he voted for Amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. RIP McCain and thank you for everything.
