trump is such a small and petty creature as are his deluded supporters, such as inhofe. at least the other senator from OK, lankford, is worth listening to.

You even agree McCain would have outperformed Bush in the popular vote. So, what reason do you have to assume McCain would lose a state Bush barely won? Makes no sense.

Who was governor of Florida when Bush ran? His brother. Remember the Palm Beach County ballots, as well as a few other antics? Also, Floridians, heck, this works for almost every state including my state of California, are likely to support their own, than an Arizonian. In 2000, Florida was a state like no other. McCain couldn't even get 20% in the primary. You think Bush's bro would've campaigned as much for McCain, as he did for Bush?

It's like Sanders - he might've had less popular vote than Clinton, but he would've probably carried the Rust Belt, and the election with it.

Yeah... you don’t pay too much attention to elections do you?

Shofercia isn't the topic here. Neither are you two. Jésu, it's an obituary thread. There are plenty of other places to discuss the last several elections. Take it outside.

Anyways, onto McCain. One of the missed stories, (at least by NSG,) is the recent Twitter trolling of Lockheed Martin's obituary to McCain. After Lockheed's gushing tweet, the Twitterverse responded is less than flattering colors:

I would like to express my condolences to the loved ones of John McCain's victims...

How surprising. War-profiteers praising a war-monger, who’d have thought...

If I'm lovingly memorialized by a massive defense contractor upon my death, you have my permission to spit on my corpse and throw it to a pack of wild dogs. This is worse than NAMBLA sending flowers...

I can’t read this statement it’s covered in blood...

And of course, my favorite, a parody of LM:

John McCain served us well by calling and voting for war at every opportunity that presented itself. He was a boon for our stock prices and corporate profits by ensuring our bombs and military equipment would be used on innocent civilians across the world. RIP - Lockheed Martin

How dare do people express sympathy for victims of the Birthpangs of Democracy?! Can't they like chill out for a day, even if their loved ones in Yemen are being slaughtered like pigs? Horrible, horrible internet!

Yemen is a mess. It was a mess during it's unification process 30 years ago and it's a mess now. Not surprising to say the least.

If McCain hadn't died, there'd be no question of whether to lower the flag for his death!

Even though I disagreed with many of his policies, like banning abortion (in my opinion, there is no single answer to that), he was talented and brave nevertheless, and also props to him for standing up to Trump on a number of policies.

We may have made fun of his views (and Obama’s) in the 2008 election, but at least that election was so far from being so ill-tempered as the one in 2016.

Yes, Yemen is a mess and has been for awhile, but it's a little more of a mess than usual considering the whole Saudi Arabia committing genocide with US provided weapons thing.

John McCain:

- opposed gay marriage
- opposed civil unions
- voted against adding sexual orientation to hate crime statutes
- voted against adding sexual orientation to anti-discrimination statutes
- opposed LGBTQ adoption

Everyone saying I should honor him can f*** off

Yemen has been a mess since the collapse of the Great Dam of Marib in c.575 AD.

I wish I was being facetious; sadly, I'm not. While it went through a period of relative stability under the Rasulids in the 13th through 15th centuries, realistically it hasn't been Arabia Felix since the collapse of the Himyarite Kingdom.

Give me enough time, and I'll work out a connection to John McCain in there somewhere...

He was a good person who typically did what he considered best for America. Unlike certain others.

That can't be worse than "President Trump," right?

This^ best illustrates how horrible the current situation actually is.
Donald Trump has no clue as to what "insuring the domestic tranquility" means

Vice President Pence is worse, comparatively. Besides, I named myself for Palin.

The current president has been doing what was best for himself instead of what was best for the country, and some Republican congressmen have been doing what was best for their party or their base instead of the whole country.
