Well I have a massive fucking planet killing weapon. So I just travel back and play Mexican standoff with all of earth. Make me god emperor, or Ill push the big button. And if you try to shoot me down, Ill push the button anyways.

The question then becomes, which can be blown up first? Your ship, or Earth? My money's on Earth lasting longer.

Just code a program so if the ship takes a impact it automatically fires the laser. I am a Comp-sci major

Also Im assuming this space station is like the Death Star, so It would take a while to kill it.

No I mean like, if it actually takes a serious hit, not just a ding. Also Im sure my crew would be on watch for these things aswell.

I mean, a planet destroying laser would probably need a large spaceship. You need to store the energy, the crewmates, the cantines, the defense mechanism, plus I made up this thread while watching it so... yeah about right.

What about the following scenario?

After news of the exterminatus of the Xenos world reaches Terra, you soon recieve an urgent message while in deep space; the message is from the Imperial Naval Command Council. The message urges you to return to Terra; the council had to cave to public opinion, and they seek to haul you before a tribunal and try you for war crimes (Never-mind that they were the ones who gave the order...). Knowing the political corruption found in the Imperial Judiciary, the committee would almost certainly be a "kangaroo court/show trial", where the guilty verdict has already been decided. Do you return to Terra for all-but-certain death? Or do you flee into space, becoming a renegade against Imperial Human Space? Or do you do something else entirely?

Considering they would have had to have operated the station in order for me to y'know, actually fired the laser, they are kinda in the same boat as me.

I don't think that a earth court would believe that story, especially when its a kangaroo court that's already found us all guilty of fucking war crimes before our trial.

Thats if they riot. Mathematically speaking I actually have a higher chance to live if I go for the takeover of the planet. Though I could just as easily take my massive world ending planet killer and go find another shitty alien race and take them over, or a habitable planet and start a colony. Im sure a Death Star sized ship has enough people of both genders to start a colony free from earth.
