Trump snubs Trudeau at UN
"U.S. President Donald Trump said he rejected a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over Canada's dairy tariffs, negotiating style and because his people do not like Canada's "representative."

Trump made the remarks during a news conference in New York on Wednesday when he was asked if he had, in fact, snubbed Trudeau.

"Yeah I did," Trump said, adding it was "because his tariffs are too high and he doesn't seem to want to move and I've told him forget about it and frankly we're thinking about just taxing cars coming in from Canada. That's the mother lode, that's the big one."

Trump went on to criticize Canadian officials and how they have negotiated during the recent NAFTA talks.

"We're very unhappy with the negotiations and the negotiating style of Canada. We don't like their representative very much," Trump added.

Trump did not say what representative he was he meant.

During the NAFTA negotiations U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has acted as the lead official for the U.S. while Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland has filled that role for Canada."

Once again, the President apparently treats American enemies better than American allies, and (likely) insults the Foreign Minister to boot.

The irony here is that once again Trump will probably be helping Trudeau domestically. He already got a nice lift in the polls when Trump slagged him after the G7 in Quebec.

Canada is effectively our enemy now. We don’t share intelligence with them anymore after they where caught hand it to the Chinese. Canada is a Chinese puppet now they even arrested people who protested the CPC in Canada and sent said people to China.

Man... not even in my dreams are tariffs put on Israeli goods. But the idea of sharing intelligence with the Chinese does raise concerns. What exactly is being shared, and does it pertain to matters of national security. Or is this some more basic intelligence like piracy hotspots on the high seas?

Well it has been completely blue for the last eight years. It hasn't voted for a Republican president since the mid 80s. It's had one Republican Governor and Lt. Governor since the early 60s.

Trump's approval rating is 15% above his popular vote in the 2016 election in the state. In what is easily the top three most partisan blue states. He has the approval of all his voters, theoretically all Libertarian and Green voters, and more than one in ten of Democrat voters in the state. Or a quarter of Democrats if you want to exclude Greens and Libertarians and assume they've gone blue.

That is the definition of a win, tbh.

Are you suggesting we're struggling with a sickly economy and banking on a big upturn ahead of the 2020 elections to boost him? Or are you hoping a couple of hundred American marines get killed and he starts an invasion to get the patriotic drumbeats going?

Trump, as he and the Republicans are constantly telling us, is presiding over a booming economy, has passed big tax cuts, and given a big boost to military spending...and yet he's still just such an inherently contemptible man-child that he can't get get his approval ratings out of the tank.

Trump would be absolutely terrifying if he could rise to the self-control level of, say, your average 10 year old.
