On the day Donald Trump became president of the United States, while inauguration festivities were still in full swing, he officially launched his 2020 reelection campaign. Donations poured in from more than 50,000 people across the country. But according to the latest federal filings, Trump still has not donated a penny of his own, while his businesses continued to charge the campaign for hotels, food, rent and legal consulting. That means the richest president in American history has turned $1.1 million from donors across the country into revenue for himself.
Leading up to the 2016 election, the president’s campaign paid an average of $2,700 in monthly Trump Tower rent for every person listed in campaign filings as receiving a “payroll” payment. The 2020 operation, by contrast, is shelling out an average of $6,300 in monthly rent for every such person.
Trump Tower Commercial LLC, an entity owned 100% by the president, has charged the reelection campaign $665,000 in rent, according to federal filings. The Republican National Committee also coordinated with the campaign to pay an additional $225,000 in rent. Campaign representatives did not respond to requests for comment, and an RNC official declined to answer questions about the payments, leaving it unclear exactly how much space they leased inside Trump Tower.
So Forbes staked out the buildings, arriving at 7:15 a.m. one November morning and staying for the next 14 hours, with the exception of an 18-minute break around 3 p.m. By our count, seven people went in and out of the twin, four-story brownstones over the course of the day. One refused to talk, and six said they had not seen any sign of the campaign in the buildings. Nor had a man behind the front desk at Trump Plaza. “I’ve been here since the beginning,” he said. “If there was any kind of office rented out for campaigning or whatever, I would know about it.”
From November 2017 to August 2018, the Trump campaign paid Trump Plaza LLC an average of $4,200 per month. The real estate website StreetEasy lists recent rentals in the building for $3,700 to $3,850 per month. Candidates are permitted to do business with their own companies only if they pay fair-market prices.
One month after Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election, the campaign paid the Trump Corporation, another one of the president’s companies, $90,000 in “legal consulting” expenses, according to federal records. It is not clear what legal services Trump’s company provided the campaign, or what rate it charged for the work.

Rasmussen is an outlier, his average is way closer to 40%. It's not far off Clinton and Reagan at this point who both went on to win big in their re-elections, if they're looking for something to grasp onto. Carter and HW, both who lost their second term, had much higher approval at this point. I don't know that it actually means anything, just a thing I noticed.

Remember he donated to his own campaign early and was really tight with his campaign money. But now that suckers are paying for it, he's making it rain. Per person that shit adds up:Trump Tower Commercial LLC, an entity owned 100% by the president, has charged the reelection campaign $665,000 in rent, according to federal filings. Trump Plaza LLC is also getting $42,000...but since it's a garage rented by someone else, some retail space, and a pair of brownstones it's hard to tell what's actually being rented. So Forbes staked out the buildings, arriving at 7:15 a.m. one November morning and staying for the next 14 hours, with the exception of an 18-minute break around 3 p.m. By our count, seven people went in and out of the twin, four-story brownstones over the course of the day. Now, in the pattern of Trump getting caught doing shit, it's "I didn't do it. I did it but it wasn't illegal. It might have been illegal but it wasn't a big deal. Obama/Clinton/deep state/smokebomb!"
On to step two and three:From November 2017 to August 2018, the Trump campaign paid Trump Plaza LLC an average of $4,200 per month. The real estate website StreetEasy lists recent rentals in the building for $3,700 to $3,850 per month. No doubt he views paying for his legal defense a re-election expense:One month after Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election, the campaign paid the Trump Corporation, another one of the president’s companies, $90,000 in “legal consulting” expenses, according to federal records. Of course the idea that Trump is fleecing his supporters is nothing new, even to those he's fleecing who think it's just clever businessing to take their hard earned dollars and spend them at his own businesses. It's just a testament to what a good business man he is.
There's that scene in The Simpsons where Mr. Burns finds out he has every disease and that's what's keeping him alive, because they can't all fit through the door together. I'm convinced at this point that's what's keeping this clown show of an administration going.

Three Stooges Scandal. No one scandal can land because every scandal is trying to force their way through the door.

I do think it's important to note how little the needle moves on Trump's disapproval rating compared to past Presidents. He jumped right over 50% disapproval early on and never got below it again. No other President has gotten so many people to dislike them for so long.

In principle, it is mindless negativity towards the president in order to get under his skin, but in practice, it has been used to describe any criticism of president Trump. And, if you think that the Russia investigation is meant to criticise Trump, then it falls under wat they call 'presidential harassment'.
Trump has faced an unprecedented level of negativity though.

That awkward moment when the evangelical hero turns out to be less evangelical than the people he endlessly demonizes.

Two women, who are illegal immigrants, claim they were subject to abuse and threats while working at President Trump’s exclusive golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey — and they want authorities to investigate the allegations.
The domestic employees, one who still works at the club, said they served directly for the Trump family and were repeatedly harassed by their superiors due to their immigration status, according to their lawyer.
“While working at Donald Trump’s estate in Bedminster and interacting with the President and his immediate family, my clients and others were repeatedly subjected to abuse, called racial epithets and threatened with deportation,” immigration lawyer Anibal Romero said in a statement.
“Ironically, the threats often came from the same supervisor who had employed them despite knowing their undocumented status and even provided them with forged documents.”
The New York Times identified the women as Victorina Morales, who came to the US illegally in 1999, and Sandra Diaz, a native of Costa Rica who was undocumented when she worked there between 2010 and 2013.
Morales, who expects to be fired from her job, said that she has cleaned President Trump’s golf trophies and underwear. She claims that the staff routinely mocked her nationality despite knowingly hiring her as undocumented.
“We are tired of the abuse, the insults, the way he talks about us when he knows that we are here helping him make money,” she told The Times. “We sweat it out to attend to his every need and have to put up with his humiliation.”
The women claimed that there were many other undocumented immigrants working at the Bedminster club.
Romero, the women’s lawyer, said that the abusive behavior needs to be addressed by law enforcement.
“This toxic environment was designed to intimidate these women, leaving them fearful for their safety and the safety of their families,” Romero said.
“Many of the abuses to which my clients were subjected constitute crimes. We call upon New Jersey’s law enforcement community and federal authorities to investigate these allegations immediately.”
The Trump Organization did not comment on Thursday about the undocumented workers.

Yes. Quite. At least, in scale. Obama received similar (or even greater) intensity of negativity, but Trump's criticism is more wide-spread. This, however, is because he is one of worst presidents, at least in living memory.
