Oh, I don't know, mister President. Maybe the UN could do more! It could do much to improve international standards. It doesn't help, though, that the US:

1. Doesn't accept UNCLOS, which has otherwise been almost universally ratified
2. Defunded UNESCO
3. Left the UN Human Rights Council
4. Vetoed every Security Council Resolution on Israel
5. Moved the embassy to Jerusalem
6. Attacked Syria without Security Council approval
7. Threatened the ICC with arrests
8. Tried to ban refugees from coming to the US
9. Threatened nuclear war on North Korea
10. Pulled back from a successful Iran deal that actually helped keep Iran in check
11. Pulled back from the Paris accords on climate change
12. Refuses to send aid to Palestinians in need
13. Continues to increase its military funding despite the relative peacefulness of the planet
14. Threatens to pull back from the WTO
15. Doesn't accept the majority of protocols to the Geneva Conventions
16. Threaten members of the General Assembly with sanctions to acquire necessary votes


See, mister President, the UN could do great things, and it would be helpful if the US got its head out of its ass and actually contributed to the global legal order instead of seeing it all as a threat to sovereignty. That US veto in the Security Council has not helped things along much, has it?

As we know, any action taken to support your ally is bad an is RUINING THE UNITED NATIONS, assuming said ally is Israel.
Problem is, even without the US supposedly mucking with the UN, it was already without any force to back itself up, requiring other nations to provide the bite to its bark. This is fundamentally a good thing, however, as letting those bureaucrats actually have power beyond mere influence (and charity) would be... bad for the entire world, really, given who's in the UN.

And as Kowani said, the UNHRC was basically nonsense, and since the US doesn't quite have the jurisdiction to disband it entirely, leaving it removes most of its legitimacy as an organization.
