I was mostly going for a jab at the saying that Chinese restaurants/stores sometimes serving as fronts for money laundering. :p

Stuff from China itself is a weird mix. There are some things that worked as well as its price tag, i.e. breaks easily. Other times, they last for extraordinary long periods of time that I have to wonder what I just bought.

I have flashlights that broke within a few weeks, while there are Tiger-brand ones that took multiple hits and was still kicking.

Quite true. I sometimes buy stuff from Wish, and IIRC, Wish's storefronts are all in China. Some of their merchandise is quite well made and lasts a long time, other not so much and it can be a bit of a lottery on how good the quality of what you buy is.

Sometimes I really want to act like a grouchy old man. But then I remember that I'm not old, and generally not that grouchy either.

Whoops, my funny bone doesn't reliably kick in until 10am!

In my defence, the skit for the Chinese is cocaine and after trading hours booze in my neck of the woods. :p

Quarter of an hour into the workday and already two lengthy cross-office work-irrelevant political diatribes by the higher-ups.

I've reconciled myself to the fact that if I participated I'd probably get fired so it's better to keep schtum, but still, shush.

Still somehow in business.

Some business models must surely involve pacts with demons.

How else are you going to make the bloodstained money earned with narcotics, human trafficking and terrorism squeaky clean again? For more information, call ING.

Asking a friend for a loan to have money to eat for is reasonable, but it still won't stop making me feel terrible.

My cat is either happy it’s Friday or she wants something. Powerful purrs.

She can’t have it. Last time she did, she ordered a lot of salmon treats. And kitty porn.

IIRC, powerful purring usually means "Just lay down the tuna and back away quietly or the soft furnishings get it"
