I hope that you get the job, although I wonder what the factory manufactures... by the way, since I had a long absence from the site, could you explain in some more detail this car wash?

Also, I hope that your headache goes away; headaches are unpleasant.

The factory makes safety equipment for military, emergency services, school buses, etc. So like seatbelts and airbags and stuff. Now...the car wash... it's fine, but they pay you $8/hr for doing tons of manual labor. The only reason that I'm really starting to hate it is because they make me work in the tunnel every day that I come in. They never let me do anything else anymore like working in the bay to clean the insides of cars or working outside to dry down the cars. Now working in the tunnel is an easy job it's just that when we close, I have to clean the tunnel and it takes almost an hour for me to clean, because I have to spray the walls with acid, and then I have to spray all the mud and gunk off the walls and the floor with a "prep gun" which is just a high pressure water gun...so yea. And since I've been trained on how to do the tunnel they gave me a raise...of 25 cents. So now I'm earning $8.25/hr doing work that should earn me more than just that. Meanwhile, the factory is probably just going to be me standing at a conveyor belt putting part A on part B earning $13/hr.

I've about ~1.5 months left on my contract, so next week I'm getting interviewed for possibility of direct employment after my current contract ends.

Not really. People have been injuring and killing each other for thousands of years and the world hasn't ended...

It probably will. Because a terrorist attack in London when your friend is in London is when the world ends.

Yes, London. The suspect was arrested at the scene, under suspicion of terrorism offences. But no official announcement has been made AFAIK.

No-one was killed.

That doesn't mean the world is ending. It just means that people are people. A percentage of people have always wanted to harm other people, and they've always found an excuse to do it. That's not the wider percentage of humanity.

I'm not sure it that's actually true.

There were plenty of terrorist attacks back in the 70s. The world didn't end then.

That's not true.

The Witch Trials killed between 20,000 and 100,000 innocent women in ritual violence between the 1400s and 1800s.

20,000 Indigenous Australians were ethnically cleansed between 1788 and 1934

200,000 were killed by Cromwell's conquest of Ireland between 1649 and 1653.

Yes, terrorism is bad. It's traumatic and it's wicked. But there are not more people wanting to harm than have done so over the centuries. And I'm sure plenty of people -- at various points in all these previous periods (I could list more, but I don't want to press the point) -- felt the world was ending.

Yet, we're still here.
