This seemed like the right place. My interpretation is that this is the most generic general thread in all of General where people just discuss whatever and cut loose.
In the past on here, I've perhaps been too harsh against the prospect of Puerto Rico statehood. I still don't like the place and its people, (they're too Spanish) but nevertheless it seems that their claim is legitimate. For better or worse, the US has an overseas collection of Pacific and some Caribbean islands. I'm reluctantly loosening my criteria for what makes a good US state. Letting everyone know.
It is less problematic than accepting the Philippines as a state in any case. The upside is that there are only 3 million there. Not quite enough in my view, to swing elections permanently to Democrats.
