I'd also like to remind people next time they want to drag out one of those meme worthy polls that says "X amount of NRA members supports Y gun control measure" that the one and only poll that actually verified peoples NRA membership (because it was done internally by the organization) had them at 90%+ opposition to each and every measure proposed.

Because those numbers conflict heavily with internal NRA polling. The "28%" support for banning assault weapons is actually closer to 4% amongst NRA members iirc.

Because they will be more accurate as the NRA has records of who are NRA members, so only NRA members will respond, removing the issue of non-NRA members responding to the NRA poll.

Firstly, it's actually thou shalt not murder, secondly, America's not a religious theocracy, thirdly, the NRA isn't the only pro-gun organisation and the pro gun lobby won't disappear just because the NRA does.

Because they actually have records of who is an NRA member. The independent ones don't. The independent ones will inevitably include non-NRA members as NRA.

When you do so much to campaign against common-sense initiatives for gun control like background checks and expanded magazine limits, you make it really, really hard to have a conversation about sensible gun ownership in the United States.

Maybe with these guys gone, the door can be opened to a less extreme voice in favor of the Second Amendment.
