I find it hilarious to have someone who posts on NSG claim that entertainment is a waste of time and money. Are we really that bad at entertaining others?

If I'm going to pay taxes, I want it to go to fixing potholes and making sure our boys overseas have enough bullets, not a stadium where men run around and play with balls, I can go to a gay bar for that

IMHO, this problem would be better in North America because our sports leagues create artificial barriers to entry. For instance St Louis was under such monumental pressure to "save the Rams" (which they didn't) because there's only 32 NFL teams, and now that the Rams left St. Louis the city would have almost certainly been without a team for years and years, maybe forever. Because there's so few teams, they have far more power in the relationship than the city does, and they expect the cities to compete to keep them. The only way to add a team is to get the other team owners to agree to create a new team.

Not sure why we all just accept those rules because they ask us to, but we do.

Leagues are private entities. Congress cannot pass a law, demanding that the NFL expands to 40 teams. Also, you have to worry about the dilution of talent. If MLS expands too fast, you'll have a Stinky McStinker on every team. Take a look at the NFL - how many teams have stellar quarterbacks? Not 32. So if you make that 40, there would be even more quarterback suckage, and you'll have someone like Johnny Football starting every year for the entire season. Eeek!
