even remotely implies that I'm in favor of allowing convicted felons to buy guns...The Two Jerseys wrote:The gun laws we have now are adequate.
We should instead focus on sending criminals to prison and keeping them there for a long time, since gun crime is often committed by repeat offenders:
Baltimore Sun: "Why are Baltimore's violent repeat offenders getting away with murder?"
Hartford Courant: "Gun Offenders Are Repeaters"

Complaining about repeat offenders needing to be locked up for life instead of making sure they're not allowed to get a gun legally to begin with was telling.

If someone is too dangerous to be trusted with even a peashooter, then perhaps they’re too dangerous to be on the streets?

There's people out on the streets legally barred from owning a gun. Are you saying they should all be rounded up and imprisoned for life instead?

In my nation Iname zero weapons of any sort are held by government or citizens. Instead of firearms we use anesthetic dart guns to capture violent perps.

Especially when they get back out on the streets, buy a gun from a shady guy with a van in a back alley, commit more crimes, get arrested again, plea to a lesser charge because the DA can't be bothered to do their job and make the serious charge stick, go back to prison for a couple years, get back out on the streets, buy a gun from a shady guy with a van in a back alley, commit more crimes, get arrested again, plea to a lesser charge because the DA can't be bothered to do their job and make the serious charge stick, go back to prison for a couple years, get back out on the streets, buy a gun from a shady guy with a van in a back alley, commit more crimes, get arrested again, plea to a lesser charge because the DA can't be bothered to do their job and make the serious charge stick, go back to prison for a couple years, get back out on the streets, buy a gun from a shady guy with a van in a back alley, commit more crimes, get arrested again, plea to a lesser charge because the DA can't be bothered to do their job and make the serious charge stick, go back to prison for a couple years, get back out on the streets...
