Not really. If you get possessed by demons, it's most likely because you were promoting a satanic message. You invited them to possess you.

I have yet to see any evidence proving the existence of demons.

They're right about Jesus having 12 apostles, but the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is that the founder of the RCC was Jesus Christ.

Jesus was a man of love. I doubt he would see change in the institution you say he helped create as bad or sinful. So, kindly practice what he preached.

Yes, Jesus was a man of love. That might just be the first factually correct thing you've said in this thread. However, what you said next isn't correct, it's baseless speculation. What does him being a man of love have to do with change in the Church? God's word is eternal.

Funny, I know many Catholics who would really disavow your message. Honestly, if I were to go for demon possession and what it does, I'd say you fit the bill by the hate you have espoused in this thread.

Why would Catholics disavow the message of the Church? Oh I know, because they're with the 50% of non-celibate Priests trying to subvert the Church.

The funny thing is (funny as in kinda sad) that many priests actually lost their faith while studying theology. However, given how you spent years becoming a man of the cloth, you tend to stick with your career decision. Sexual desires are not the only thing the clergy can be closeted about, so to speak. Heartfelt atheism is another one.

El-Amin Caliphate wrote:Also, if marriage was allowed, wouldn't that go against the rules of being a priest?

Not allowing priests to marry hasn't always been the case. I forget the century, but there were lots of priests that were having trouble caring for both their churches (they often had multiple) and their families due to the available technology of the time. So both families and parishes suffered, and clerical celibacy was seen as the solution. It worked in those times, but it may be time to reconsider now that technology has greatly advanced and all dioceses have multiple priests so there are plenty available to circulate.

Might pose a problem for ordered priests and those who took a vow of poverty outside of an order though. They can make the choice not to marry, of course, but if they do marry then their wives would have to work harder than they might have if they supported a traditional two-worker household.

That I have seen. I had a professor who also was a priest who, after a whiskey or two, chatting with his students, would talk about his atheist feelings. Feelings that blossomed during seminar. He fought with the feelings very often but he expressed ideas about the non existence of the divine.

Oh, I'm sure. As a field of study, you're bound to have doubts. I had them while studying to become an art historian. Med students have them. I think thst where it comes to clergy it may be even more shocking to them because of what it entails. It's not a mere profession, right? Its a vocation for many (although i feel vocation comes in many guises and it can be such for a doctor or a lawyer too) and it must be hard to have such doubts.

I’m scratching my admittedly destroyed and warped childhood memories. I thought Jesus had 12 apostles, and they went on to form the church after he died

When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
