The image of the Crusader within Christianity is pretty distinct from classification of laypeople; I'd almost say there struggle directly in the cause of God elevates them to the Clergy, if distinct therein from it. As for Protestantism, they have not rejected most Christian theology to my awareness so they inherited this same streak. A very good example would be during the American Civil War or the early days of the War on Terror.

Well, yes, I suppose John Brown, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, and Oliver Otis Howard could be seen as Protestant crusaders, in a certain sense. But the United States is a secular state and the reasons for going to war were secular regardless of the motives and ideals of certain individuals in the military. A better example would probably be the Thirty Years War and other wars associated with the Reformation era, but that was more a response to Catholic aggression. Anyway, since Protestants generally reject the authority of the papacy and church tradition in favor of sola scriptura, many of the ideas associated with the crusades would be rejected as un-biblical. Certain Protestant denominations do endorse Augustine's concept of just war as a reasonable interpretation of the Bible, but that is quite different from the pagan militarism which Evola endorses.

What is really "shitty" is the Trump tax plan that is eliminating deductions for state and local income taxes. If you really think about this, it is basically an attempt to strengthen the federal government at the expense of states. It is a betrayal of the principles of federalism.

Unsurprisingly, the ACLU has shown itself to be gutless. The first but definitely not the last. In order to stop government spying on social media, email and of course us reporting each other, it recommends giving into gun control. Gun control is of course the reason Uncle Sam wants to look in on your privacy rather than being the latest excuse. No doubt we will be back to the claims of "muh terrorism", the Ivan's or the good old " if you've got nothing to hide". Why fight spying when you can cave? The modern progressives everyone.

I kind of quit paying attention to the ACLU after they complained that saying 'America' too many times during the State of the Union speech was 'exclusionary'.

Maybe. But they seem to suffer from frequent bouts of retardation. They didn't breath a word when Cohen and Trump's attorney-client privilege was completely tossed out the window.

Honestly they just seem to be SPLC lite. In other words: leftist hacks.

That was an uncalled for insult tbh, I'd like it if you downgraded them perhaps to something like public defender of defense attorneys or something like that. That's a serious insult.

The concept of Holy War is well established and understood within Christianity, not sure what you're talking about.

The concept of "holy war" is almost exclusively a Roman Catholic thing, and it's totally at variance with the core beliefs of the early church. The crusades are one of the principal episodes in the church's history which showcase the corruption of the Church of Rome and its abject failure to uphold the teachings of Christ.

A perversion of the teachings of Christ? Yea I completely agree with that however I wouldn't call it a showcase of the corruption of the Church. It was more akin to that of the Pope canalizing the petty violence and squabbles among the feudal lords of the Western European nobility into a "positive" outcome such as the conquest of the Levant.

This. Christ told the Apostles that those who live by the sword will die by it, and Paul taught obedience to the civil authorities, even if they weren't godly.

That sounds like a good thing tbh, dying by the sword is better than the plague.

Then why didn't Christians sacrifice on behalf of the Emperor when they were commanded to? =^)

That's because The Lion Of Judah was the hero Ethiopia deserved and needed, but the aristocrats and the reds betrayed and backstabbed him preventing Ethiopia from ruling the world like it was always meant to.

Christians didn't sacrifice to the Emperor because it would have been idolatry. You don't have to worship the Emperor to be loyal to him.

They weren't asked to sacrifice to the Emperor until Diocletian. They were asked to sacrifice on behalf of the Emperor and to take oaths to the Res Publica. "Obey ungodly powers until they do ungodly things" doesn't really sound like "Obey the powers that be even if they're ungodly" tbh.

Seconded, Christians didn't meaningfully reconcile the idea of Romanness with their primary identity as Christians until Rome itself was turned into a Christian puppet. And then they wonder why the gods abandoned them and let Rome be destroyed!

Pliny's letter to the Emperor Trajan seems to me to imply that they were required to do sacrifices. And most did absolutely take oaths to serve the Emperor when asked, as Pliny even references that there were only a few holdouts who didn't swear fealty when asked.

Pliny's letter also implies that confession to being a Christian was grounds for punishment and that the requirement to make oaths and curse Christ was a way of ferreting out actual Christians, and his reference to the independent revival of traditional religion after the banning of such Christian secret societies suggests that deconversion was the primary result rather than a reconciliation of identities.
