You don't want to let people listen to the music that they want to listen to. You want people who listen to a certain genre of music to be put on watch lists. That will stigmatize that certain genre of music. Ergo, people will not be free to listen to the music that they want to listen to. Ergo, that makes you authoritarian.

Well I don't want the watchlists anymore. Keep up!

Restricting freedom is inherently bad, even if said freedom is loud and smells faintly of pyrotechnic chemicals. If parents don't want their children to listen to 'impure' music, then they have every right to take away the child's music. But the govt has no place or right to protect us from music, when people are starving in the street and becoming votes rather than people at the hands of liberal social policies, such as Affirmative Action, Corporate Welfare, and inefficient welfare policies

I mean, sure, it's a bit violent sometimes, but most media's like that. Doesn't mean we should ban "Die Hard" and all that.

Besides, if all y'all were worried about is the affect of violent media causing people to be violent, shouldn't you be worrying about Horror-core or Juggalo music instead of Heavy Metal?

There should be legal limits in place on the amount of syncopation found in music. While this would logically exclude heavy metal, it would also exclude such more straightforwards examples of jungle music as old school rock and roll, swing jazz, and pop.

Ahh yes, the good ol' "they have such and such information in the database already, what's the harm of just adding this other information to the database too?" argument. That argument is complete bull, it doesn't provide any justification at all.

That's no reason to go ahead and ban the entire genre, though. We might as well go ban action films, Boxing And Top Gear whilst we're at it, since all of those can influence people if they're inclined enough to go out and murder the nearest 5th grader because their favourite song has a few too many screams.

You just want to take steps to marginalize it. Totally different.

I NEVER SAID I WANTED TO BAN THE ENTIRE GENRE

Nope, just marginalize and stigmatize it by putting anyone who listens to music in said genre to be put on a watch list.

Is that really marginalizing or stigmatizing it though? I can guarantee more than a few people on this forum are probably on watchlists, are they being marginalized or stigmatized?
