That sounds like a bad reason to me. Would you like to live in a country which is divvied up between oligarchs and has an emigration issue?

Skeptics are going to be categorized as enemies of the state in many countries formerly known as proper democracies before 2030. The goddamn People's Republic of China might look more liberal in comparison by then!

Looks like Poland is on track to become another Hungary where the independence of the courts will be gutted , free press and assembly is limited and elections are rigged to where its impossible for the incumbent party to lose. Its really upsetting to see democracy on the retreat worldwide. I think its very possible it might no longer exist in many countries in a few decades.

Strange. I would have thought that you'd like to erode democracy. Maybe you only like the erosion of democracy when it's your side doing it, hmm?

Treating politics as a zero sum "us vs. them" sporting event is precisely why I hate keeping up with politics. It's also probably one of the largest sources of disunity in a given nation. So plz stop.

If you treat it like a sporting event, buying corn dogs is more justified.

Its shit like this that makes me internalize "centrist" as "basically on the right but in denial."

I was saying he's not mistaken in his accusation that SM is an enemy of democracy.

I'd be happy if the law simply ended with a forced retirement at 65. Supreme court figures have a tendency to turn into something of perpetual Ayatollahs otherwise and taking measures to avoid a judicial gerontocracy would be welcomed.

I never once said I supported gerrymandering in the slightest. It would not shock me if Poland went the route of Hungary and gerrymandered the legislature so they cannot be voted out.

How would they gerrymander their legislature? They're 93% Hungarian.
