Sadly, the EU isn't the superstate we've all hoped for and won't be able to do the things it needs to do to survive. Which is extremely sad because, before the UK's secession, I honestly thought that the unified EU would become the greatest superpower the world had ever seen by 2050.

Honestly the EU will break by 2030. I don't see it living with all these divisions through the countries. A house divided by itself cannot stand. A house that is filled with axe strikes will collapse.

Mate, with all due respect, could you possibly be any more of a living, breathing stereotype of armchair Socialism?

Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are no more fascist than Sweden is a Communist paradise. The ruling party of Poland in particular isn't even far-right. It's just socially conservative and nationalistic. Hell, it doesn't even advocate hard euroscepticism.

Poland is also establishing a judicial disciplinary chamber to punish judges for "misconduct". 1st President of the Court Malgorzata Gersdorf showed up to work today, ready to force a showdown. The EU is considering imposing Article 7 of the Maastricht Treaty....but that requires a unanimous vote, which the rest of the Visegrad Group won't let happen.

Countries don't want the EU to use their powers to suspend rights to member countries? Who cares?

It's very sad that so many countries are going down this authoritarian, hard-right route. The next couple of decades are going to have to see a lot of hard work undoing the damage humanity is doing to itself in this one. :(

Who says they'll even leave before the next decade? This trend has been happening for a long time, and it doesn't look like people are tired of it. I wish they were.

If that's authoritarianism, then a 30-year-old beater diesel Mercedes is a limousine.

There are a few signs in Britain that it's reversing, but very very slowly. I'm afraid you are right.

Why yes, this car is a limousine. Because removing a bunch of judges just because you don't like them is blatantly authoritarianism.

Not 30, not diesel, not authoritarian.

Just with laws you use to scapegoat.

It's a government that created child benefits, increased the minimum wage and is thinking about a higher top tax rate.

Yes Britain is becoming less authoritarian good one. Britain is a pseudo-police state at this point, and the Tories, LibDems, Labour, SNP and UKIP are all proponents of authoritarianism. As for the authoritarian hard-right specifically? The tories lead polls and UKIP are up from the last election.

As a proud EU citizen, I fell very sad by having to agree with you. The visegrad group are goats eating off Germany's and France's budget, taking it away from countries that really need it (Lithuania or Romania) and use it for bitching fascism. If you oppose everything the EU does, leave it. The EU should be only western and northern europe with central european states willibg to comply.
If Poland looses access to the common market they'll get immediately fucked. The EU NEEDS TO BE A MAN and say: "If you don't comply, face the consequences." I wonder how long they'd make it on their own.

The main reason why the EU is failling is because it gives a weak snowflake-like appereance, which makes the Poles (not all, as only roughly a third voted for PiS) feel like a superoir race. I want to point out one thing - Poles are Slavs, and they are nothing more than Ivans and Mashas riding goats enwrapped in Confederacy flags. Just kick them out.

The EU exceeded it's mandate, and tried to force a "one size fits all" government run from Brussels, that no one voted for, and without the consent of the people. I think Quit-Italy is next, and the break up of the EU is not very far away. This is the failure of those who supported the European push into globalism, the policies they made, and the rule they created without the will or consent of the people of Europe.

Why yes, because anyone that is right of the extreme left is far-right.

I'm not denying that they've done okay on the economic sphere, but as far as I'm concerned, power grabs make all the rest irrelevant.
