Though in fairness to Gingrich, he was really the culmination of a trend that began in the 1970s.
Liberal definition of "toxic": not being a wittol.

Thats just what conservatives tell themselves. The left is far better armed than you think.
Literally all the evidence disagrees. I don't disagree that groups that historically don't own arms are starting to but white men who are right wingers are still by far the most well armed group in the country.
Shit just the right wing gun owners on this website alone have enough weaponry to arm a small battalion.

Moderates have guns too...

Sounds like a flattering description for those people who own not just a few guns, but an actual arsenal.

Takes no Einstein to see who would win that tariff war and in no time as well and it certainly won´t be the USA.
So yeah, slap America with tariffs until they come down from their high horse! Who needs american products anyway? Certainly not me.
I was always also for abolishing the dollar standard as well, let nations or unions trade in their own currencies. I still fail to see why America should get a small bulk of each global transaction only because a global dollar standard exists. And when I remember correctly China and Russia wanted to do the same back then already, well, maybe Europe will wake up an join them, it would benefit us if we could trade in our own euro.
You're economically illiterate, to say the least. First and foremost, the fact we import more is a solid advantage to us, given that means we have fewer products exposed to tariffs and they have more; tariffs hit them much harder. Further, you need to look up exports as % of GDP. In that regard, exports only constitute 11% of U.S. GDP but 40% for Germany and 23% for China. In other words, tariffs hurt their economy far more than it ever will ours.

Yeah well its clear that the concept of "returning the party to its principles" is a highly subjective idea. The free market and pro-business wing of the GOP is likely to argue that Trump's protectionist stance is moving the party away from its principles, and I suspect there are many GOP supporters who feel that way. Personally, I'd be much more willing to support the GOP right now if they were less protectionist and more in favour of free market principles, including supporting international free trade
Yeah, I am not going to support rolling over to China. If you want to vote for wittols, look elsewhere

A fourth of the Global economy and 10 Carriers says otherwise.
We built said infrastructure to fight the Cold War by containing Soviet influence; we're now almost 30 years since the Berlin Wall came down and it's time to construct a new order. Nor do we benefit from foreign trade, which is the entire reason we have a trade deficit. Yes, we get cheap shit, but on the whole we're not getting wealthy off and the stats reflect this. Exports only provide 11% of GDP, for example.

Money and warships don’t equal influence. After all, a small despotic nation like North Korea is still able to resist US influence.
Yeah, it’s not like Russia is a resurgent threat, attempting to reassert control over regional affairs, or like China is attempting to challange the US hegemony and put itself on top...
Right, because access to 96% of global consumers is such a terrible thing, it’s better to restrict US companies to the 4% that live within the USA. Right? It’s not like near every computer on earth run on Intel or AMD microchips.
