Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

I think some of the shite they put in those kinds of shows can be pretty retarded, but like Taronis says: “fiction is fiction.” For the most part I just don’t watch it if I think it’s stupid, and if it irritates me.

Tarsonis wrote:Today I learned Oscar Wilde converted to Catholicism on his deathbed, and received last rites. This makes me happy.

Wilde was baptised Catholic; I believe that from your perspective this means he was always Catholic, even if he strayed in the interim.

It's actually somewhat complicated.

Wilde and his brother William were initially baptised in the [Anglican Communion] Church of Ireland. However, their mother seems to have been drawn to Catholicism, and at some point - likely when the brothers were under five years old - had them re-baptised by a Catholic priest.

Wilde occasionally mentioned having a vague memory of this event; the main source is otherwise the actual priest, a Father Lawrence Fox, who independently corroborated the story in an interview with an American magazine shortly before his own death in 1905.

The priest who received a semi-comatose Wilde into the Catholic Church and administered the last rites the day before his death from meningitis was presumably unaware of the childhood baptism, but if Wilde remembered - and he wasn't capable of expressing himself verbally at this point - it may have been more of a case of 'just making sure' rather than being 'received' from scratch.

It doesn't appeal to me, and its theology is bad. But I don't care that much about it.

The Imperial Truth is more theocratic than it is state atheist (I mean, it's basically Space Juche), and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in 40k that isn't a xenocidal maniac.
No, the Tau do not count. They are a stratified society built on mind control, and while sterilizing and enslaving xenos is definitely less cruel than exterminating them, it's still evil. They only look nice if you compare them to the Imperium.
