The gay propaganda law is less about the actual LGBT rights movement than it is about keeping American NGO's out of Russia. Also, part of the reason for Russia's conservative stance on LGBT issues is that there is a lot of prejudice in society, and the government has fears that a social movement could lead to social conflict. Moreover, in certain areas, Russian laws are more liberal than in some Western countries such as the United States.

Read encyclicals of the Popes and works of the Church Fathers is always helpful. First Principles by Origen is a good read! If you want some more modern work, I'm a fan of Jacques Maritain.

Agreed, Latin is awesome, though I do not see myself singing along.

I hate my singing voice.

Ironically, because gender dysphoria is considered a mental illness in Russian law (though that might change with the WHO's recent reclassification), there is a lot of legal recognition of trans people by the government, even if not by the public. It's also worth noting that Vladimir Putin personally is much less homophobic than the general populace, but his hands are tied.

Yes, in large part due to international politics. Many Russians see homosexuality as a sort of "western disease" that should be kept out.

In general the orthodoxy of Russian tradition will prevent Russia reaching the same level of reform as in most Western nations.

Good. In the west, homosexuality is normalised and treated as something natural. It isn't and it should be discouraged.

Not hate preaching, just a truth. Active and unrepentant Homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. If worldly desires matter more to you than the Word of God then you are not a Christian in the first place, but you are one of the lukewarm whom Christ will spit out. I encourage you to read scripture and the works of the Church Fathers who echo what I am saying.

I read more then enough scripture to know that saying people will not inherit the kingdom of God is vanity.

I specified "unrepentant" for a reason. All sinners can be forgiven if they turn to Christ, sincerely ask for his forgiveness and intend with his grace to sin no more. Christ came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).

Yeah that's doublethink right there. So, let me pose it better. Did Omar Mateen go to Hell along with the people he murdered?

Also, you ignored my question. Why use that flag if you're so concerned about dogma and tradition?

And one last question: if Ted Bundy hypothetically repented, would he go to Heaven?

No, but you are just using the words to justify your own hatred and contempt.

And that should say Pederasts, stop reading the King James version.

And you need to know the Greek culture of the time to understand what he was saying.

Only God can make that judgement. Knowing that baptism is a prerequisite for salvation, it is very very very unlikely that the nasibi Omar Mateen went anywhere but hell. As for his victims, God may show mercy on them. But I cannot say because only He knows.

You can be straight and not care about what consenting adults do in private.

It isn't private because God knows what is happening and all sins hurt God.

I'm really curious to hear your hot take on the Orlando nightclub shooting now.

Murder, in all situations especially that of the Orlando nightclub shooting, is wrong. In fact homicide is a sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance. Just like homosexuality.

I read more then enough scripture to know that saying people will not inherit the kingdom of God is vanity.

So St. Paul was being vein?

"Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God." - 1 Cor. 6:9-10

Didn't Christ preach that Homosexuals should be accepted and that even an Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized?

Matthew 19:11-12

11“Not everyone can accept this word,” He replied, “but only those to whom it has been given. 12For there are eunuchs who were born that way; others were made that way by men; and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

I specified "unrepentant" for a reason. All sinners can be forgiven if they turn to Christ, sincerely ask for his forgiveness and intend with his grace to sin no more. Christ came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).

No, but you are just using the words to justify your own hatred and contempt.

And that should say Pederasts, stop reading the King James version.

And you need to know the Greek culture of the time to understand what he was saying.

I did not use KJV, I'm a Catholic. I used NRSV. The Church Fathers, who spoke Greek natively unlike you and I, all knew the word ἀρσενοκοῖται referred to homosexuals.

He's nitpicking. Illogical fallacies have to be justified somehow.

Greater Cesnica wrote:Yeah that's doublethink right there. So, let me pose it better. Did Omar Mateen go to Hell along with the people he murdered?

Only God can make that judgement. Knowing that baptism is a prerequisite for salvation, it is very very very unlikely that the nasibi Omar Mateen went anywhere but hell. As for his victims, God may show mercy on them. But I cannot say because only He knows.

Do you know that there are several layers to hell? Limbo for example is a place in hell for righteous Pagans, who may have not experience the supernatural happiness of heaven but experience natural happiness. It's also a place for babies who were not baptized not through their own fault.
