I'm sure you have. Keep in mind we are diverse in our beliefs like every other denomination has its own little sects, so I apologize for those of us who say some crazy or mean stuff.

I think you would be on safer ground just sending a TG with the details.

So my Orthodox sources tell me no. At least not as it is now.

It'd still be viable for an Orthodox layman to take communion at both churches.

No, while Moscow has restricted communion for their members, this is really unenforceable because there's no clear line in any place that has churches of both patriarchates separating laymen of the two.

Inspiration is different than a direct dictation however. Theological authority ultimately rests in the Church.

This isn’t the thread for this conversation

Which Church? I mean, ignoring all the nondenominational people for a moment, you have two major, semi-unified ones right now, plus all the Protestants.

This isn't exactly a new occurrence in the East. Orthodox churches have schismed and un-schismed for a very long time for one reason or another.

Exactly, this also happened in 1996 and lasted three months. More ancient examples include the Meletian Schism, Acacian Schism and the Schism of the Three Chapters, etc... which were much worse schisms.

Schisms have existed in these Ancient Churchs for millennia, a schism like this one is not particularly new, nor escpecially threatening. It’s similar to a great storm that batters a coast every 30-50 years.

True, but part of me wonders if there is a major schism and Moscow and Greece split, the politics of the Church could shift, and potentially in the next 50 years, Greece could reconcile with Rome.

If this was truly some God tier plan for reunification of the Churches, then I’d be amazed. Though I believe the Orthodox would fire* Bartholomew if he ever tried to compromise on Orthodox teachings for that reunification.

No, for all the reasons previously stated in the thread.

Moscow and Constantinople may be blowing raspberries at each other - as they did over Estonia 20 years ago - but both patriarchates remain in full communion with the other 13 autocephalous churches.

Ergo no 'full blown schism'.

Also, your local grammar Inquisition needs to point out that should be 'full-blown schism'; I bet you didn't expect the grammar Inquisition.

Ok so having been kinda scared away from converting to Islam by Amin's latest "Slavery is good because Islam" tirade, I guess I should come here. Is there any branch of Christianity which offers that same relationship with God? Things like dhikr, the hajj, those sorts of things? I feel as though Eastern Orthodoxy is closest to what I want, but Catholicism looks good too. Especially as I do latin.

Ladies, be careful about getting into any altercation to assist or defend your man in a fight against another man. According to the laws of Leviticus, apparently the penalty for a woman grabbing another man's testicles in that situation- is to cut her hand off.
