Today is apparently the Feast Day of the Otrantine Martyrs. In 1480 the Ottomans captured the Italian city of Otranto as part of their (ultimately failed) campaign to capture Rome. Upon capturing the city, the Ottomans demanded that the population convert to Islam, and 813 Otranto Catholics refused, and were beheaded.

Although despite being obvious Martyrs they were only canonized in 2013 *shrug*.

...Then, speaking theoretically, I would say that atheism is the very first step towards belief in the one true everlasting God. Or, depending on how you play your cards, atheism could be the very last step since God could be the alpha or the omega.

Yeah. I drive 45 minutes to a TLM; bit difficult, but you gotta do what you gotta do. My heart goes out to the people at our sister chapel who have a daytime mass- most of them probably have to drive an hour further down the road to our evening mass.

We both know that the Assumption is part of the Dormition belief; the relevant Catholic dogma simply doesn't define whether the Dormition occurred before the Assumption.
