Better than the EU admittedly, here are the benefits:
  • right to free speech
  • right to bear arms
  • actually enforced right against improper searches
  • actual professional basketball league
  • NFL expansion team likely
  • wendys and Whataburger are one step closer
  • bigger food and drink portions
  • no import tax on jd
  • better disability standards

ideally, we would take the best parts of the US and UK and combine them into one better country. the UK, however, is much more likely to take the worst parts of the UK and US and combine them into one mega-shit country. this is, of course, precisely the reason that the US distanced itself from the UK in the first place, and it is no coincidence that the best anglo country is the one that revolted the hardest.

realistically speaking, your best bet would be to take the EU and inject some actual proper respect for freedom into it. this would instantly make the EU a much more free place without sacrificing the regulations that prevent it from descending into US style cyberpunk hell. of course, they will never do this, but it is nice to think about.

Punching oneself in the face repeatedly is a common British government tactic, it seems.

It's the public school system. Corporal punishment leads to our MPs getting into masochism.

The original plan was to nuke the colonial power, but then Cameron got into office and didn’t want to provoke the Chinese. :p

It must be quite galling for senior members of the Conservative Party, all that work changing constituency boundaries and other manoeuvring, to put the party in a position where they basically can't lose a general election, and then the ERG bollocks the whole thing up.

It's a possibility. They're not exactly the most grounded of movements. However I think they've kind of been threatening to do that for a while.

That's how you tell democracy is working. The government being punched in the face is the will of the people.

The best anglo country is Canada.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
