The UK has recorded the largest monthly budget surplus in history at 14.9 billion, strongly above the 9.9 billion that was a "consensus" among economists and treasury analysts.

This means year-to-year borrowing is now 21 billion and is set to be that way until April's budget statement, beating the doommonger Brexit re-forecasts/target of a 26 billion budget deficit for the financial year.

Capital gains tax increased by over 20% in a single year despite a slowdown in house prices and equity growth. Borrowing is now at its lowest since 2001, when Labour randomly decided to end Britain's budget surplus and send it down a spiral of gigantic deficits in the 7 years preceding the financial crisis against all economic widsom, exacerbating the crisis and causing public services cuts to be bigger than they'd have to be.

My bad, you're right. Thanks for reminding me all these crappy companies like Airbus and Nissan are leaving thanks to the EU. Even more reason for us to leave on time.

You can't have it both ways.

Anything negative in the economy is due to looming brexit, but anything positive "Brexit hasn't happened yet.".

It's either all nothing to do with Brexit, or all to do with Brexit.

Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

As far as I'm aware, there's no known list of all the ERG members.

Here's his voting record.

Jeremy Corbyn goes on live TV to say that Begum is British and should be let in and "given our full support" on return.

This will go down well in the voting polls I bet.

Why should have Soubry have been deselected, anyway? I mean, now the question is strictly a hypothetical one since she left the Conservative Party of her own accord, but what about Philip Davies with the horrendously sexist statements he has repeatedly made. I am pretty sure that is a far bigger problem than someone supporting the EU, whatever its flaws.

Because she's voting to remain in the EU at every step, while her constituency was heavily slanted towards leaving. Soft Brexit Tory Mps aren't suffering the same fate, because they're at least respecting the manifesto they stood on by words if not spirit.

Are you talking about the "Re-leavers" in particular? Because I could understand their desire to respect the results of the referendum, especially right after the referendum took place. On the other hand, since it has become increasingly clear that no satisfactory Brexit deal is likely, I have been increasingly leaning towards just revoking article 50 and remaining in the EU. Another sensible option would have been to accept May's Brexit deal as a reasonable compromise that would honor the will of the voters while avoiding the catastrophe of a no-deal Brexit, but unfortunately that failed. If Soubry opposed May's Brexit deal, then I would certainly have a problem with that stance, but if they deselected every Conservative MP who opposed May's deal, then about half or so of the Conservative MPs would be deselected, right? It would be a complete mess.

Doesn't matter. Words matter. He went on live TV and told everybody that he thinks she should be given, and I quote "our full support"

I'm very interested what this will do to polls next week. Because so far opinion polls show 78% of the public support depriving her of citizenship even if doing so would render he stateless and explicitly be against international law. This is not some sort of fringe or extremist view. The extremists are the 15% who think she should be able to come to the UK, of which even fewer extremists think she should be offered rehabilitation/legal aid, of which even fewer extremists think she should walk free. In Northern Labour heartlands, that figure is 84% of the public thinking she should rot the fuck away from Britain.

They're not deselecting MPs who don't support May's Deal, they're deselecting MPs who do not support leaving the EU at all. There's about 15 or so of them in the Conservative Party and half, the three included, are undergoing some step in the deselection process.

Not sure what you mean by releavers. Conservative voters are pro no-deal (by a slim majority) and Conservative party members are pro no-deal by a large majority. The amount of people who voted Remain but would vote Leave is roughly equal to the reverse.
