Actually it isn't. The Falklanders call it Falkland. Just like we accept the name of France for the country named France by the actual French, just like we accept the name Italy for the country named Italia by the actual Italians, so we accept the name Falkland Islands used by the very people living there.

The Falklands were uninhabited until British people inhabited it. That makes the islands even more British than the British isles, which were inhabited by Kelts and even older nations before the Ango-Saxons came to shore.

Make them independent, but have them join the British Commonwealth... if this isn't the case already. That way Argentina is forced to recognize them as a sovereign nation instead of a British Colony that in their view, rightfully belongs to them.

Have the newly christened Falkland Republic (or whatever name the Falkland government decides to call themselves) form a treaty with Argentina allowing them to establish a small military base on one of the islands (for a fee of course). Also allow the British Navy to do the same.

All parties win, the islanders technically self-governing yet still part of the British Empire for all intents and purposes, Argentina has access and influence on the Island(s) which is probably what they really wanted anyway, and it it helps foster good relations between all three parties.

Quoting again because I updated the answer, and most people who have commented since have probably not seen it.

Note: Having Argentina officially recognize the Falklands as an independent nation and drop their claims in exchange for the leasing of land for a military base might be a way to get them to shut up about this.

They voted by plebiscite to remain there. They voted, with 91% turnout, 1,513 to 3 to stay an overseas territory. They want it, they can have it.
