I want nothing to do with that weapons system. A 105 isn't a tank killer. They think it can be deployed from a Ford 250.

Just make it go away.

Seriously though cause those artillery braces on the truck reminded me of a siege tank.

Well that explains why you think a technical with a howitzer is a tank.

Now feast your eyes on a real man's self-propelled artillery piece.

Well, Humvees are also known to be voracious gas guzzlers.

No they aren't. They should all be donated to local police departments to crank the drug war up to a whole new level.

Have American police departments not been paramilitarized enough already? Lots of surplus military hardware found its way to them since the previous decade.

Yeah, because turning the police into a pseudo-military will be so goddamn effective.

Problem with Humvees is that they are ridiculously fragile, even the IED-resistant ones. In a real conventional combat environment, they'd suffer critical existence failure the moment they come in contact with an IFV, a light tank or infantry with basic anti-tank capacity.

As with all military vehicles, it's a matter of deploying them correctly. Situations may change quickly in warzones, of course.

Ugliest military pic I've seen is the original rail version with tracks replacing the rail bogeys and claiming that that is what the P1500 would have looked like. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

I have seen some nice scale models of the P1000 too.

Depends on who is buying. The Humvee is a multi-role vehicle for a reason: cheaper to chop bits off and stick things on it than design dedicated vehicles to do one thing. Like the Germans sorta did.

Uxupox wrote:I dunno maybe something basic such as occupying and seizing an area?

That's what infantry is for. Occupy buildings, fields, ditches on the side of the road waiting for the air force to do the fighting for them (well at least the Americans do).

The whole point of the Humvee is that most of the time it isn't being used as a front-line combat vehicle. However for most of it's service life it has been used in conflicts that it's original design wasn't intended for. It was an immense improvement over the several vehicles it replaced in service, which were open topped jeeps that had the same basic design layout since the original Willys.

Completely depends on the terrain. For example you wouldn’t want any kind of armored vehicle with limited capability in the mountain which what air assault operations excel nor you wouldn’t want light infantry without any kind of armoured support in the desert or plains.
