Are tanks worth it?

Even in cities, indeed especially in cities tanks are indefensible. Having something that can flat out drive through a wall, blast holes into buildings and demolish all in its path all the while providing cover against snipers and machineguns is incredibly useful. Which is why every single urban battle since tanks existed has featured them prominently.

I don't really get where this myth of tanks not working in cities comes from.

Cuz literally every room can have a team set to blow it to hell.
Sure the tank can level a house but will the tank last long enough to level it

Probably because people don't understand the close cooperation behind an armor-infantry team systematically clearing out a dug in enemy with overwhelming firepower that allows the infantry to close with and destroy the enemy.

A common statement about artillery is that it's the king of the battlefield. This is incorrect. It would be more correct to speak of artillery as the vengeful god of the battlefield, unleashing its wrath upon its hapless targets as if Ares himself was suffering from explosive diarrhea.

And if anyone ever questions that you just get in an MLRS and make the grid square their house is in cease to exist.

Again, every building? We did a few village clears but I can’t see the whole route through a city

That and they forget that the infantry can just walk into the buildings either side of the road the tank is driving along and kill those ambush teams before the tank drives up to blow the big thing down the road up. xD
