Returning them to their countries of origin with the necessary skills and resources to build (or rebuild, in the case of Syria) their economies, infrastructure, and governmental integrity is an acceptable compromise to me.

It's a good thing that people don't. Because no one would be able to function if they always felt other peoples pain.

That is not to say that people shouldn't be empathetic, but we also shouldn't let empathy completely cloud our judgement into doing foolish policies. It is not our fault that these migrants are seeking European wealth, and we can't realistically help all of them.

My grandfather has been held at gunpoint during the Angolan Civil, so frankly, I have a secondhand clue of this pain.
