Well, afaik, Florida doesn't have any particularly stringent gun laws except for the age limit but you're fine on that regard. I do believe there's a small waiting period though.

Just call up a local FFL and ask if they do transfers and if they do they'll be able to help you out with getting your gat. Though I'd try to find a place that doesn't have too high of a transfer fee because some FFL's get obnoxious with them.

According to gunbroker I need an FFL first which considering the rather cheap price. I should be able to handle it. I can just go to my county building to apply right?

What Gunbroker means is that you need an FFL near you they can ship the gun to. They're not allowed to ship the gun to your house. You could technically become an FFL but it's a complicated process you don't need to bother with right now.

My recommendation is to go to a range near you and take an introductory class as well as drop $100 on range time there. Handle a bunch of different guns, see what you like.

Ok thank you both.
I need to scout the gun stores nearby before i drop $500 on something i might be able to get for $300 or get a sufficient alternative for $80 or something

Any firearm really. Specifically I'm looking for a western style revolver.

Treat me as someone who's never held a gun before, safety, advice, cleaning, you name it. ESPECIALLY AMMO i don't want to waste money because i bought the wrong .45 bullet
Also a guide for buying online would be very nice.
I already know to never load 6 in a revolver unless you are using it at the moment, and to have it rest in an empty chamber at 5 or 4 rounds

The fact that you know that not all .45s are chambered equally is a huge plus in your favor of not winning a Darwin award.
-Usually, the cartridge a gun is chambered in is stamped on the barrel. For seemingly obvious safety reasons. Just need to find it.

Safeties vary by firearm, and mechanical safeties not to be trusted (for the most part, it is to keep things other than fingers that happen into the tigger gaurd from firing the gun [such as brush] which can be shortened to an "mega-oopsie"). The other two things being only to load it when expecting on using it (and unload it and always double-check when you DO NOT plan on using it). But should you have it loaded, and the mechanical safety fails, make sure it's pointed in a safe direction at all times...

This way, to accidentally shoot anyone, you pretty much have to fail all three of these things at the exact same time. Kindof a "three strikes and you just shot Marvin in the face" sort of deal.

As for cleaning There are special gun-cleaning oils, brushes, and kits. They come with instructions.

As for revolvers and pistols specificly, the recoil will want to twist/flip the gun out of your hand, so a firm grip and strong wrist are both necessary.
"Resting on an empty chamber" only works if you know how to check to make sure it is, in-fact, resting on an empty chamber. Long-term storage (unattended)this way is strongly frowned upon because of the "don't worry, it's not lo-- *BANG*" crowd.

Schofield is the reason I'll never forget that :p
But yeah long term storage the bullets should be far away from the gun.
Good thing gun companies inform and give instructions instead of 'firearm knowledge and technique is to be distributed hereditarily'

I hate to rain on your parade but it's not live if it's $350. You're looking at a minimum of probably $5,000 for a functional and NFA registered bazooka.

And the poor design (in retrospective not practice of course) means all you're going to do with that is blow up a cop car but obviously no one's dumb enough to do that. Doing that means you get 30 minutes to kiss your ass goodbye before the National Guard fucks you into oblivion.

You can't get an FFL solely for personal use with the exception of a C&R license for buying antiques. You have to be engaged in the business to get and keep an FFL, and it's still discouraged to use it for yourself.

The quick n dirty of ordering from a far. You contact your local FFL and have them send their FFL info to the shop you want to order from, once that has been processed/check/whatever, the place you ordered from will notify your local FFL of the shipment and ship it out. Your local FFL guy let's you know when it comes in, you drive over there, do that stupid background check shit, you clear the BG, pay your local FFL dealer his fee to use his FFL, walk out with new purchase, go to range/place you can shoot, use new purchase to shoot at targets and enjoy the day.

looks like its time to get a bigger job and move out. my dad insists on being the only gun owner in the house. So basically now the only reason he votes republican is because he's bigoted it seems.

I'm sorry to hear that.

On the plus side now you can get an apartment, pop in a gun safe, and start collecting.
