Pretty cool. The first one reminds me of a G3 but with a picatinny rail.

Good: seven guns firing three single-shot volleys.

Better: seven guns firing one three-round burst volley.

Best: one gun firing 21 rounds on full auto.

There’s a bit of corrosion inside it, but I’m scared to take it apart. I don’t know if someone’s taken the bolt apart before. If they did, I I can’t tell. I do think someone took the buttplate off at some point. The buttplate screws are a little worn, as is the takedown screw.

I did notice a little minor pitting in the barrel that I didn’t see before, so I ran soaked it in CLP, and ran a brush down it a few times. Think that took care of it.

This bolt should look familiar

Majority of the time it just gets soaked in solvent, then soaked in gun-oil, then wiped down.

So just soak the bolt in CLP, then scrub it down?

If only the glut of cheap surplus ammo for those hadn’t dried up. Now even 8mm Mauser and .303 British are hard to find unless you go online and pay bigger premiums; I don’t think any of it is still coming in at the same volume it was. To say nothing of weird calibers like 6.5 Swedish. I haven’t seen large quantities of any of that stuff in my local gun shop in ages, and Covid finished it off.

I wound up selling my 98k clone when the surplus started drying up because I just couldn’t find enough new ammo for it, or afford to pay what the online retailers were asking.

I’m glad I didn’t buy one of those 6.5 Swede rifles I saw at Cabela’s last year. Nice rifle, but you hardly ever see ammo for ‘em.

We usually have ammo for it out here, but usually only in one bullet-size and brand.

Oddly enough, I found out that some locals bought a sheet-stamping factory and had been selling cheap locally produced premium brass-cased ammo for ages.
-The things I learned when I wondered what "JAG" headstamps meant from a box of ~400 rds at about 0.53/rd yesterday. Apparently reloaders prize it akin to H&H/Lapua stuff on a good batch, high-end Winchester brass grade on a "bad" batch.

Also, Russian ammo ban means I now feed slightly pricey Brazilian Boxer Brass (CBC) through my mosin. She never had it so good before.

Also, any use for .308 tracer bullets? My plan right now is to burn-off the tracer compound and fill the cavity with lead, powder-coat the bullet, and feed it through the Mosin as "heavy ball ammo"

Yeah, that's where my collecting is mainly. Not a good time to collect Arisaka rifles though, ammunition is dried up. Managed to snag two boxes of Jap 6.5mm (realize that sounds bad, but that's how it's referred to on the civilian market to make it less difficult to confuse with 6.5 Swede or 6.5 Carcano), but 7.7mm I haven't seen online at all. Not too distressed because my Type 99 was a steal (it has all its original attachments including the dust cover, monopod, AA sights all matching, has the Chrysanthemum, and is in overall beautiful condition and I got it for around $650), but some day I would like to take it shooting. My Type 38 is much less collectable, since it doesn't have the Chrysanthemum or its dust cover. I recently bought a repro dust cover for it, but I'll have to do some work on it to fit it properly. both have pretty good bores though, so I'm happy with those purchases.

My Type 99 was butchered by some retard who wanted it sportized. Would love one day to replace the furniture and the barrel. However i got it for 200 and it came with a ten round box of 7.7mm Jap.
My Mannlicher M1895 is in beautiful condition though.

My local gun store. People have been selling off there collections to him, its how I got the Mannlicher as well.

I found on E-bay people selling the wood for the Type 99. Same for barrel's, but they all seem to be late war. I would probably go for it just to make a presentable wall hanger.

I’d shoot ‘em. Always wanted to see what a tracer looks like.

I’m still trying to figure out if it would be safe to shoot slugs out my Stevens 20 gauge. I think the action’s probably strong enough, but I’m not sure. You see, my local range only allows shotgun slugs…

Ran across this the other day.Revolutionary upgrade for the AR15 and AR10 Rifle? It's here! RIFLESPEED Modular Gas Controls!
IMO, it looks like they pretty much took a cue from the adjustable gas block from the FAL?

Here is their selection and installation. Riflespeed Gas Control Selection and Installation
Price-wise looks to be around 199-210 bucks.

Edit what's up with NS crapping up linking images to only a handful of "authorized" sites?

From what I understand there's some sort of security risk with image links in the current forum software, and since the plan is to switch to different software the admins don't want to waste time fixing it, so they're only letting you post images from known safe sites.

Found the Type 99 at a gunsmith's shop in my area. Guy is really nice, if you're new to collecting, he'll help you out, and he's not like the other boomers who price gouge on their collection. The Type 38 I found on gunbroker and just managed to snipe since no one else had apparently noticed it.

There's something about those early SMGs that I really like the look of. MP18, MP34, Sten, Type 100, Sterling, etc. The ones with the magazine on the side. It's just a pleasant aesthetic; especially with a wood stock. Shame nobody designs SMGs like that anymore.

Time to harass Brandon Herrera until we get a Kalashnisten.

Here is their selection and installation. Riflespeed Gas Control Selection and Installation
Price-wise looks to be around 199-210 bucks.

AFT: Is this a machine gun?
Edit what's up with NS crapping up linking images to only a handful of "authorized" sites?

From what I understand there's some sort of security risk with image links in the current forum software, and since the plan is to switch to different software the admins don't want to waste time fixing it, so they're only letting you post images from known safe sites.

Heh, anything and everything is a machinegun according to the AFT (ARBF). That stick you picked up as a kid and went pew, pew, pew is a machine gun.

Oh, I see on the security risk, I'll let it stand this one time :p
