H&K is popular and all popular things get hated on. Sometime it's deserved, sometime it isn't. In this case I have no idea but I'd wager it's more of the latter than the former. That's usually the case.

Bullpups were basically just overhyped. There was a time when everyone seemed to think they were the way of the future, and that every military going forward was going to want a bullpup. But it turns out that they're basically only better if you spend a lot of time fighting from a moving vehicle, and this comes at the cost of making reloading more awkward, and a few other issues.

It's more the hype then the weapons themselves that people are derisive about. People insisting "this is better!" when it's not. Also there's a lot of really crappy Chinese bullpups on the market now. They're made to look all fancy and futuristic, but they're basically just AKs.

Hi Points have a reputation for being shoddily put together.
Bullpups and H&K products are not awful, they’re just incredibly overrated and overpriced.

Thanks

Does the extractor engage the rim of the casing at all?
One can use a wire chamber brush and rod and wrap scotchbright around the brush and put some polish compound on it end attach the other end to a cordless drill and let it spin inside the chamber for bit. Another way would be to use a slightly larger chamber brush and wrap a cleaning patch around the brush and apply polish compound to that and spin it with a drill.

The extractor usually engages the rim enough to pull it part way out of the chamber. I don’t have a chamber brush, so it looks like I’ll have to order one. Thanks again.

Least recommended way is to wrap some steel wool (ultra mega-fine grit, 0000+) around a drill-bit and run it backwards in the chamber with an electric drill.

Janky and can go horrendously wrong very easily, but it works.

Even more janky is an easy-out/bolt-extractor used on a stuck case-neck. since a dry-run without a case in there means you'll dig into and it'll attempt to extract the chamber from the barrel, in pieces.

Which would not be good. If I remember, I’ll order a chamber brush tonight or tomorrow. I think I have some polishing compound already down in the garage.

Usually a shotgun bore brush fits chambers fine. Either 20 gauge or .410... a pistol brush works too, I guess.

Fair, I'm inclined to agree.

Also, unless there's something i'm missing, it should be "Eat, drink, and be merry" rather than "mary", which is my Nan's friend's name.

I prefer the AR style as I find it more intuitive and easier to quickly switch out magazines.

Obviously if you have a lot of practice doing it one way, that's the way you're going to find easier. But I think probably the AR is more intuitive. It seems like you'd be less likely to fumble it in the heat of the moment.

Although I would actually be interested in holding some kind of speed-run competition to see which does better. Surely somebody must have done that already though, right? InRange maybe?

I would've said that rock-in is more intuitive, I know when I plug something in to an electrical outlet or put a key into a lock I always have to sort of rock it in because it helps me align it with the hole.

.22LR in a mag is always sus.

Also, I found Norma .223 in 30 round boxes for 18 dollars. Last time I bought ammo at a store it was 80 rounds of X-tax for like 90 dollars. If only I could find pistol ammo.

Heard S&W is giving the middle finger to masshole and moving to Tennessee and Hogdon is closing their black powder factory in Camp Minden, La. Hogdon is the last American company that made black powder.

Yeah, they are closing the GOEX plant. Hogdon is still making black powder substitutes as far as I can see.

Ahh. Looked it up and yeah, they are putting up GOEX for sale basically, also seems this particular plant has had safety issues going back to 1998 and with a recent explosion back in June might have put the final nail in the coffin for GOEX being under the Hodgdon umbrella.
