It would be exceedingly difficult to do so, but assuming we could I'd support doing it.

Theologically Christians would likely argue that Clone Jesus is not the actual thing because he would be a separate person who's DNA just happens to be a a copy of the big prophet himself. That said, it would be a mess for them theologically and I could absolutely see a faction arising that would proclaim this new Jesus as the second coming. Ah, don't you love the sweet smell of schisms in the morning?

Obviously you'd avoid madness in the individual if you were upfront about who he is while that clone is growing up.

One thing I'd suspect would happen is that Clone Jesus would be a remarkably ordinary person. After all, the actual guy didn't go around being all holy until he was 29 if memory serves, and was perfectly happy being a carpenter before then.

If we could reincarnate Jesus, I would expect his response to us would be the same as that given by the ghost of Samuel to King Saul.

Ist Samuel 28
Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul replied, “I am terribly troubled! The Philistines are fighting against me and God has turned away from me. He does not answer me—not by the prophets nor by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what I should do.”

16 Samuel said, “Why are you asking me, now that the Lord has turned away from you and has become your enemy?

If he held the same beliefs as the old Jesus (which is not a guarantee), I'm calling that he'd find Prosperity Gospel sinful, the various schisms insane and would hate how many of them are conservative reactionaries.

Marxists do not much resemble Marx. Calvinists did horrible damage to the teachings of Calvin. The vast majority of Christians are more interested in blending in with the dominant culture than they are in the One they purportedly follow.

Great leaders and thinkers.

Lousy followers borrowing their name and fame.

"Take people's money and tell them that it will make you love them more."
"What did I say was the greatest commandment?"
"Hate everyone who's not like us."

"Oh yeah... love thy neighbour as thyself. I forgot."

Outside the scope of this topic.

I'd argue that since they're humans, yes.

Actually, what the hell? Not the thread title I was expecting to see.

That aside, I don’t see any major downsides to cloning Jesus.

Why stop with just one?

"The Clone Army of Christ" has a nice ring to it. And Christians would probably be at least a little reluctant to shoot at them.

Perfect for use in the Middle East as well, because Muslims consider Jesus to be an important prophet.

No. Jesus as a foodsource is much more in line with existing rituals - as well as something he would approve.

Just imagine: No child will need to go to bed hungry thanks to the mass-cloned body of Christ. Would it not be wonderful ?
