Oh, for fuck's sake, dude, it's not rocket science. I don't care if it's a minor thing,
And that’s why I believe you are overreacting.
but him making that little jab is pretty in line with sentiments he's expressed in the past, particularly about trans people. Clearly, he has no respect for LGBT+ rights beyond the occasional virtue signalling about how awful Muslim homophobia is.
Then debate him. Show everyone that he’s wrong. Don’t go overreacting over on extremely minor thing and claiming that it’s homophobia when it’s not.
By not engaging him or debating him you are letting him win. Is that what you want? He now has a proven method of getting you to shutdown and not debate. That’s not what I’d want to give anyone.
What purpose do you think him making that acronym jab serves? Think hard.
To make you overreact and stop debating. It’s pretty obvious that it’s worked.
It’s also a point on how there has been too many letters added to it in the past few years. We can’t keep trying to be inclusive and give everyone a letter in the name. At some point we must draw the line.

I'm not "overreacting". Overreacting would be reporting him in Moderation for a "slur" or "hate speech". That would be an overreaction.
Me refusing to engage with a mildly disrespectful person, though? I don't see what's so extreme about that. I think its a good way of fostering genuine civility.
Refusing to engage with someone over a “mild disagreement” as you put it is overreacting. And no it’s not going to promote anything quite the opposite.
