Distancing themselves from Green energy, instituting tariffs, dropping the social justice shit and the free trade stuff would be a good start.

Honestly the republicans could end up winning a crap load of races if they mellowed out a bit on the social front. If they said that gay marriage and gay people are fine and thats it’s setteld law. They could kick the argument back to the Dems saying “we compromised on the gay marriage, now why don’t you do it for the guns.”

If the democrats don’t wise up soon they are going to be in a heap of trouble

Green energy is something they shouldn't distance themselves from, it's a very popular position to take with young people and mobilizing them could be key going forward. I think it just needs to be repackaged in order to appeal more to rural voters, and perhaps offering some other economic programs that would specifically help those communities and small businesses.

The thing is, while only one of your suggestions for Dems is completely unreasonable and unrealistic, the mellowing on the social front is how the Republicans have established their identity since Ronald Reagan was President, they've always been the backlash against the New Left and it's where most of the momentum is derived. If they soften on that, they'll actually probably end up losing more races due to miffed evangelicals who have made up a significant chunk of their base for a while now and cynical Democrats who won't buy the shift.

I think Democrats are fine where they are, both parties (realistically) don't seem to be going anywhere or changing dramatically in the near future but I don't see either of them being in a heap of trouble until we get to a post-Trump world.

So Trump’s threatening to end all trade to the US’ economic allies to try and get the G7 to do what he wants and get completely free trade going. Bullying your partners is certainly an interesting strategy.

And, not rolling over to ridiculous demands is double-crossing, apparently.

I thought free trade was all about international cooperation. Guess not.

Trump doesn't like being told no. People are supposed to do what he tells them.

"We're putting tariffs on you, Canada"
"Okay, well we're going to have to retaliate"
"THIS IS A BETRAYAL!"

FWIW, nobody is forcing anybody to hire a certain number of minorities. In fact, doing that is actively illegal, and has been for decades.

Fixed it, because in the end we're the ones who will be suffering.

Again not what I’m talking about Valrifell seemed to have understood what I was talking about. And I agree that the green energy needs to be repacked better to win over said individuals.

Instead you undermine all of that by demeaning all of them.

Green energy is the safer bet, going forward. In fact, iirc, Donald Trump had to impose economic regulations to make sure people would buy more coal.

But do tell me about beautiful clean coal and tech upstarts in green energy deserve no love?
