All Trump's done is made me feel more shame for my country than ever before. I feel ashamed to be an American, I feel ashamed I live with people that voted for him, I feel ashamed for being here to experience this shite. My family has given so much for this country, and we all feel betrayed by this absolute moron. And I can't blame other countries for acting hostile towards us, including allies, because we deserve it for this man's incompetence. I'd never thought I'd see the day where the US might actually fall from grace as the largest powerbroker in global politics, and at this rate, I'll be surprised if we have any allies beyond Israel. China's going to end up beating us out, and we'll get to suffer the economic backlash of this mess -- which is already starting since prices for me here have already started rising significantly.

And many in rural counties will continue to vote Republican for who knows what reason

What prices have risen significantly exactly? Because pretty much nothing I buy has gone up in price so I'm curious.

Because they think their dead towns will be magically revived and the closed factories will reopen. Because they agree with him on abortion. Because he calls himself Christian.

There's actual reasons.

It’s very likely that unlike what you hear from the free market fanatics tariffs aren’t really going to hurt us more than it will hurt them.

Some vague hope of the future is better than nothing at all, gotta say.

Though I do think Dems' platform would benefit rural voters more if it was fitted towards those communities.

Food for the most part. Meats, Milk, fruits and veggies have all started to go up and only recently forcing me to have to start cutting back on spending.

If the Dems adopted more protectionist policy’s and some of Sanders ideas than they would really win over the rural communities. Remember that Sanders had a broad following in the rural areas

Not so sure. I've contemplated suicide more times since the election than I ever have. It's like being on a crashing train and wondering if I really want to survive long enough to see if it'll somehow pull out of this, or if I'd rather save myself the heart-attack and take oblivion instead.

It is that rural following which helped him win Michigan, iirc. Though it's important to note most of Sanders' policies were absorbed into the Democratic platform, I just think that was telegraphed extremely poorly and rural voters didn't view her as "their" candidate.

Because of the fact they think less economic help will make their lives better, or that most of them are conservative Christians and the Reps. constantly pander to that base, or that they'll do anything to make sure no one touches the 2nd Amendment, or that they're scared of change and want everything to stay the same.

Or all of the above.

It's very helpful to find people to talk about it with in a healthy way, just take it easy and shut out politics for a bit when it gets overwhelming. Alternatively, develop some kind of coping mechanism like shamelessly mocking everything. It's how I've managed to stop having those kinds of thoughts.

Just listen to music and stare blankly at a white wall. It works perfectly.

I doubt there will be nuclear war but its not out of the question. Kim is likely to propose something like all troops out of the DMZ and Trump would dumb enough to do it.

In exchange for denuclearization?

Well to be honest she was definitely shit at get the message out. It always came across as forced and not authentic. I’m not saying that Trump is authentic or anything but he Sanders and many others have a way of making it seem like they actually cared, she didn’t. That’s why I think she really lost
