I'm telling you that I was being figurative, not literal. Obviously Trump did not literally snatch these children up to hold illegally until their parents acceded to his demands. Rather he is legally holding them in deplorable conditions until and unless the Democrats accede to his demands for funding for his wall. So figuratively speaking, he is holding these children hostage. The well-being of these children is his bargaining chip, and his wall is the price he demands for them.

Frankly bringing 1950s manufacturing jobs back is pure fantasy. In the fifties assembly line workers with high school diplomas had health plans, pensions, and owned middle class homes. Now even if all the outsourcing was somehow stopped without completely destroying the economy and most of the jobs with it, assembly line workers would be lucky not to get replaced by robots. Trump didn't make good points by lying to get votes.
